It's pretty good, but just doesn't feel complete without the DS game

I have never owned a WarioWare minigame collection before so don't understand what is required to complete the game.

After you Select the Wario building you select the middle building to play the games for the first time.
There are four sets of character to pick from and they are all grayed out.
I am thinking once you have unlocked each of their available minigames they become colored (that is what it seamed like).
There are some empty spaces for what I think will be unlockable characters under the main four.

The first building lets you play the mini games that you unlocked so you can practice or play your favorites.

At the main screen you can select the distribution center and exchange/download games.
So far there are only four downloadable games & no downloadable comics or sounds at the NinSoft Store.
I don't think comics or sounds will be offered though there either.
I think you can store up to 72 games that you download.

Funny thing about selecting the Wii option is there does not look like there is a code exchange for friends (must be automatic).

I also agree with lz2010 that it is fun but does not feel complete without the DS game to get and generate more content.
Without the DS you encounter all of the included minigames in a hurry and will have to wait for the NinSoft store to release more or have a friend with the DS to send you some more games.

I also don't think the NinSoft store will cost any Nintendo Points so if you are only going to be getting the showcase there is no hurry as the longer you wait the more games there will be to download later on.

Did you pay attention to the thread at all? Its also called "showcase" as in its only to see and play content not create it. So in answer to your question, no you can't create games on showcase and yes its only on the DS version that you can create content.

I like the 18 volt thingy with the classic nintendo games on it, the coin collecting minigame is nice.

If I have the DS version but my friends just have the WiiWare version, can I send my wares directly from my DS to their Wiis? That would be a lot cheaper for my friends if they aren't big on creating their own microgames.

LegendofPasta99,

I think that Showcase can only import from a local DS and can send to any other Showcase (WiiWare) that in your friend list.

So if you had showcase and the DS edition you could send all of the prebuilt DS D.I.Y. games to your friends and your own creations. If your friends have no intention of creating anything then they would be getting all the games minus the portability.

You can send something up to four people I think.
I am now thinking it said Eight people and two games/comics/sounds at a time

I honestly don't think I will be getting the DS game but would love to find a friend who did get as I don't plan on creating any games.

I will download the game and I hope there will be lots of minigames available. I will probably not have the DS game (unless I actually decide to buy a DS..)

Showcase is very cool. Of course, the DS verison is better because it has the gamer maker, but I do really like being able to play my created micro-games on the big screen. Plus, the 8-Volt games in the Wiiware verison are VERY cool. (wish the 8-volt games in the DS were already unlocked...). I've already transfered some of the 8-volt wiiware games to my DS. Might transfer some more too. lol.

Anyway, Showcase is a great companion piece to the DS verison. Glad Nintendo made it.

So I guess I'll just download the D. I. Y. Showcase myself, too. Fair enough since I was planning to, anyway. I just thought it would be a cheaper way to share my microgames with my friends in case they aren't interested in making their own on the DS.

Some of the comics were really hilarious.

If anybody has any stuff they'd like me to check out i'd be happy to with this. :3

I think I already finished the game.
Here is my save file http://malouff.home.bresnan.net/WA4E/data.bin

It is a 6.13 MB download.
On the Wii it says the save file is 50 blocks.
So I think the four extra NinSoft games are included/embedded in the save file
If that is the case than perhaps someone with the DS game can import all the DS games and redistribute the save file instead of sending them the normal way. Two games at a time addressed to eight people at once.

About my Save File
I finished all 72 games and have all the characters in color.
Four-player is also unlocked.

Anyone else notice there are three images for the opening.
The circle that says D.I.Y., The Wario head, and a robot
Each can be rotated and enlarged/shrinked before placing the stamp.

Are there any community sites for this game? Since nintendo doesn't have any dedicated sites for sharing content like say blast works has I'd like to see some kind of game sharing site for this so it can be easier to find people making cool microgames.

Looks like Nintendo is setting up a "Everyone Votes" type of game submission and will feature only those picked in the NinSoft Store.

For a community site everyone would need the Showcase and to exchange Wii Friend codes.
We would also then be limited to sharing two games at a time sending it to eight friends at a time.

On a side note my save file could also be used in reverse.
If anyone is playing mainly on the DS and does not want to complete the showcase on the Wii they could export all 72 games from my save file to their DS through the Showcase and not have to unlock any.

I wonder if it would just transfer the game or also individual game high scores?

I'm not currently planning to get the DS game, but I downloaded Showcase and I think it's well worth the 800 points. It's not as extensive as a normal Warioware game, but considering it only costs a small fraction of a retail game it's a great deal. Eventually it may effectively be as big as a normal Warioware release with all the extra games you can download. I was a bit concerned I wouldn't like the controls, since I often find using the Wiimote in pointer mode annoying, but it works well and I find it more consistent than the motion controls used in Smooth Moves.

Well, it is possible to exchange microgames on the internet with others on any site. But in order to do that, I'll have to say the evil word: homebrew.

I know, but here at Nintendolife some people hate it and mods will often delete messages about homebrew. I suggest we'll stop talking about it know, because any details will be deleted anyway. The best thing to do is to go back ontopic.

btw, Malouf's idea is great. If somebody has both, it would be great if they export all games from DS to Wii and then upload the save file.
