The good news is that this means it should come out soon. The bad news is it only got the middle "Hmmm..." rating. Positively, they say it "has the spirit of Punch-Out!!," the gameplay strategy is "certainly satisfying," and it's "one of the most visually impressive titles on WiiWare." Negatively, it says it could use "a bit more polish," the first-person perspective "causes a slight disconnect in the action and makes some enemy attacks feel cheap," and none of the control schemes are "ideal." "The result is a game that's good but not great."
If the first-person perspective works so well in Punch-Out!! Wii, I don't see why it wouldn't work with this game, and everything here says the Wii MotionPlus control scheme works great. We'll see what NL says in their review after it's released, but I expect it to be more positive than this.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Sorry Rex but Punch Out is in no way first person, you can see the character and it's a 3rd person view, don't be fooled by the fact that the character is transparant.
Don't worry about the "hmmm" as NPs wiiware/dsiware reviews are really sketchy...
For instance, last month they gave the WiiWare version of Chronos Twins a poor review likening it to a lame megaman imitator with a gimmick. This month a different reviewer raved about the dsiware version saying that while the other reviewer may see it as such, the gimmick is actually brilliant enough to carry the game and make it a worthwhile, enjoyable experience.
I haven't really cared about them since they gave Okami a low score and urged people to buy the PS2 version...

I wouldn't trust that review either, based solely on the fact that Dameon Hatfield wrote it. If I don't instabuy it I'll wait for some impressions from real gamers before I make my decision.
I don't subscribe to Nintendo Power, but I read the IGN review and I think it's one of the best reviews Mr. Hatfield's ever written. Usually he just dashes off a few quick notes about a) why it sucks or b) why it's okay but still kind of sucks. He actually went into detail, even if he didn't mention the Motion Plus support. I will still wait for further reviews, but if Nintendo Life also gives a positive review I'm sold. The videos I've seen are encouraging, and the acting being at a Saturday morning cartoon level is actually good for me--my kids might actually stay in the room while I play!

Analaysing that, the CONS don't sound too bad at all. Maybe even negligeable. The PROs on the other hand sound really good.
That's just re-inforced my insta-download assertion for this game!
"They say video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock n' roll."

Nintendo Power has always confused me. Sometimes they are really lenient towards games and give it a high score without even taking it's flaws into account and sometimes they amplify the magnitude of flaws and give the game a low score despite its good qualities.
