What makes the Wii U's VC service so bad is that the Wii's VC was so much better. The Wii was steadily getting 3 games a week for a long time. People expect things to get better with newer hardware generations. The Wii U's VC should be better than the Wii's, but it's not even close.
Having never owned a Wii, the 3DS Virtual Console greatly excited me when first buying the console. I remember the fun I had playing the first bunch of original Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles that arrived. Now instead of checking every week for what games are on offer I have a little look every month hoping that something other than just a single unloved NES game has been released. I hoped that with the Wii U VC they would finally connect the services between the platforms and start releasing games at a decent rate again. I think it's safe to say that those hopes have been dashed.
The thing that annoys me is the ridiculous file sizes. 100MB for Advance Wars. I am pretty sure the Wii only needed just enough space for the ROM files.
I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.
100MB sounds about right, considering how good it looks on a 60" HDTV. The 5-10 MB ROM looks terrible stretched to just 8 inches- stretching it to 5 feet would have made the pixels look like melting shoeboxes stacked on one another. My Wii U is a .5 TB drive anyway, so 100 MB is nothing.
I'm worried that we won't see the likes of Squaresoft again. Sega and Capcom also have not chipped in for Wii U. It makes for a crappy VC
Interestingly, there are some SNES Squaresoft games on the Wii U's VC in Japan. Hopefully that means they'll be coming our way soon. As for Capcom, they've released loads on the Wii U VC. But bizarre that we've had no Sega consoles on the service yet...
It really is sad to see the state of the Wii U VC.
So many games I would buy just for nostalgia and probably wouldn't even play. Literally free money to throw at Nintendo and a reason to get more excited about the Wii U during the most critical time of it's life cycle. I don't know whether it's because Nintendo is down on manpower or whether they are strategically releasing games to maximize sales on specific releases, but at the very least they should be cranking out more content this year.
Like another member mentioned, probably the most disappointing thing about the Wii U and 3DS virtual consoles is how they pale in comparison to the gems that were released on the Wii VC.

Actually those download sizes listed on the eshop are wrong, just like the older Wii VC games.

capcom? are you kidding? the only company to release more vc titles on the u is nintendo. megaman 123 megaman x1 x2 he final fights two ghosts and goblins 3 streetfighters and breath of fire. that makes for 14 unless i missed some.
Advance Wars is 53 megas I agree they put bigger size data like the first Wii VC games. I hope they fix soon it.
Super Metroid in Wii U VC is 25 megas and the Wii VC version is only 60 blocks (like 10 megas)
Me gusta jugar videojuegos. Soy de México. Sorry my english grammar. I love the Virtual Console, party and fighting games too.
Plus Sonic Advance, Klonoa, and Lufia (GBA) have been ESRB rated for Wii U VC and Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and F-Zero GP Legends (GBA) have been PEGI rated for Wii U VC!

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
no, i didnt notice.
how did he say it?
because it sounds normal to me, a lot of fans of the series take everything to the extreme...ive got all the games on cart, although i wish for some kind of a vc release myself.
ive been buying lot of gear from starmen.net, and i love the series, but i cant help but think some of their fans spend WAY too much time over-analyzing things about the series

While I support the decision to put Lufia on VC, I think the SNES games need to be released before the GBA.
(especially 2, since even though they'd give us the buggy NA version it's still a great game, certainly compared to SNES games. PAL regions, be glad if the game comes at all but be even more if it's not the US version for once. )
The GBA version tried to fix the dull random dungeon gameplay of the GBC game. But for a game that so heavily encourages magic usage, why can't I buy magic potions easily? (at least that is how I remember it) I definitely remember battles were very laggy, which is ridiculous for a turn-based RPG!
