Topic: DS Games [Virtual Console]

Upon awakening this morning from a fruitful slumber,
It occurred to me that the DS Game Library is a most extensive library indeed (Albeit, without any librarians).
And was merely wondering whether any of these dual-screen games will ever make it onto the eShop Virtual Console.
Most likely not within the next few months/years. Such a request is probably a little unreasonable,
Though certainly sometime in the distant foreseeable future.

This thought merely occurred to me as both the 3DS/Wii U are essentially built for dual-screen playability,
And I merely thought it'd be a great way of stretching out both Game libraries for each of the two individual systems.
Though, what are your thoughts?

I don't think anyone would be against this, I just wouldn't want it to affect Nintendo's current development

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I imagine it wouldn't affect their main development teams to severely (If at all).
They have so many little more nearly-obsolete studios after all that would be more than able to take on the task

I really can't see them putting DS games on the VC since the 3DS can play DS cards. Besides I would want to see them put out stuff on the VC that is hard for me to get. I can still buy DS games at places like Target and Best Buy.

I just see they are slow at putting VC games out as it is, adding another platform to the list would just slow it down more

they would have to put gba games on first and you see how reluctant they are to do that

In the case of the 3DS it would not even be virtual console as it runs DS titles natively, they can literally just upload the roms, no need to build an emulator.

Exactly,
And though I realise DS Games are still fairly easy to come by.
It still seems like a relatively easy way to extend the digital market,

Though I also imagine this may only occur years down the line,
When Nintendo is no longer able to reap the rewards from physical DS games

There no point as it would be cheaper to get it at gamestop for like 1 dollar...i will much rather see more GBA games on the 3ds

Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA

All these games are through re-sale,
Meaning it doesn't benefit Nintendo from a commercial standpoint in the least (Though it benefits Consumers).
And of course there's the issue that they would all be physical copies. And in this day-and-age I personally much prefer my transportable devices to all be digital

Maybe they'll have DS games on sale on the eShop by the year 2025.

Backloggery. Now playing: 3D Dot Game Heroes, Donkey Kong, EarthBound Beginnings, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+.

Well... technically, they do have a small handful of DS games on the 3DS eShop, as DSiware. Puzzle Quest, Chronos Twins, that Red Riding Hood Zombie BBQ game (forgot the title, really), etc.

Currently playing: Pokémon Y, Rune Factory 4

I was merely thinking that the Virtual Console is currently one of the greatest digital libraries in existence that's able to easily maintain over 25+ years of Video Game history. And as the 3DS/Wii U is essentially built for dual-screen capabilities, it seems pretty logical to make these games so freely re-available again

No, Nintendo would rather wait until the year 2525.

Possibly, the next generation will allow for compatibility with dual screens for a gamepad, like what Microsoft does with their tablets or something like that. It can be a screen that hooks up to your gamepad. Although, I wouldn't see the point in just using your Nintendo DSR (Double Screen Reality - my prediction) to play DS games by then.

I'd rather just 3DS have DS VC games.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
