Topic: Wii 2?

Nice articles Kknight, while personally I think who wrote them is missing something. Nintendo simply cannot go to the upmarket even if they think they should try to assault this area too. The idea of having a large base of new gamers that "learn" to play games with Wii and then to keep the same large base of gamers moving upwards to more complex games till they become hardcore gamers is nice, but current Nintendo's hardware only covers the very bottom base, what can Nintendo offer when that mass or gamers moves to the upmarket? Nothing or a Wii2. But what might happen with Nintendo if they decide to keep taking care only of the downmarket? As soon as these "birdmen" become flyiers (something that will happen sooner or later), they will fly with whatever hardware becomes more popular for the new gamers, and here Mac might become a killing opponent for the downmarket while Microsoft and Sony, with the help of the new flyers, might invade that area too. All in all, I see the current strong Nintendo position with the Wii and DS as the most fragile one.

No, as far as I'm aware there have always been bad games on Nintendo consoles. There seems to be a very vocal movement against "shovelware" but the truth of the matter is that if Nintendo were to heavily vet all games then developers would be reluctant to put money into game development with no guarantee of the game even being released.

Well if you link up all the facts we really should be expecting one in 2011 or 2012.

This is my wishlist for Wii 2:

• Backward compatibility
• Larger HD
• Continued external memory support
• Continued USB support
• Controllers that are the same or similar to the Wiimote (I heart the Wiimote!!)
• A graphics chip that is on par with the technology of the day.

I bet it will have tons of internet stuff

>HD Graphics
>Improved online community
>No Friend Codes (at the exchange of stricter parental controls as an option on the console)
>Built-in Motion-Plus
>A modern non-motion controller packaged in
>A headset/WiiSpeak device of some sorts
>Sorry, no DVD or Blu-Ray player
>Virtual Console games up to GameCube, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, and the like.

>more wii channles and let people like IGN and ESPN sports center have their own channles and also a big update to the weather channle alowing us to see hurricanes/tornado's news from NOAA national ocean atmospheric aministration.
>change the photo channle to the media channle and alow us to stream movies and music from are computer to are wii
> a powerful ASUS MOTHERBOARD and NIVIDA chip. TURBO V AUTO OVERCLOCKING would be nice to keep a great FPS in games.

>in the mii channle add a lobby feature that shows the mii's of your friends that are online and tells you what games their playing so you can easily join them.
>give us exsclusive shirts for are mii's for new games we buy like the xbox 360 avitars.
>give us the exact same wii remote from the first wii no changes at all!!
>finnaly name this new wii and call it wii D short for wii digital or wii dimensions

and to top it of they could do this with a firmware update... well, the interesting stuff

Better processor, better GPU, different shape, slightly different controller, user interface, small expansion in number of features... every one of these things obsessively hyped, what else is new?

• HD capable. Specs at least comparable to PS360.
• Link downloadable games to Club Nintendo accounts so they can be transferred from the Wii.
• Play DVDs (possibly Blu-Rays)
• Better servers to decrease lag with online games (in theory this could be implemented with the Wii)
• One friend code per console or Mii profile
• Wii Speak functionality standard with every online game
• Streaming Netflix
• Wii Controller/Wii motion plus
• Wii backwards compatibility with HD upscaling for Wii games.
• I'd also like to see GCN compatibility continued, which shouldn't be too difficult given the Wii/GCN similarities.
• Saturn, Dreamcast, and Sega CD added to VC. GCN too if backwards compatibility is removed.

That's what I'd like to see, and I think most of it is pretty likely. The only thing I'm really worried about is transferring online games.

I would like to see:
Wii, WiiWare, Virtual Console, Wii Channel & Nintendo GameCube support.
New 'Classic Controller' for the console, forget the Wii Remote & Nunchuck (except for Wii games)
Wireless controllers and stuffs, no more 'put remote here'
No friend codes! Nintendo Wi-Fi gamertag things... (just needs a name)
HD
DVD / CD compatible, I don't need it but some people do!
More on offer, we need Sky Player, iPlayer, ect... (needs to work well too)

GO MOBILE (NOT WI-FI)

Also, with the console should come a new 'Nintendo Points Card', we need to be able to top this up at game shops, online or on the console (online) using credit/debit card.

What would be the difference between a single nintendo points card or just buying new ones at stores or adding money with a credit card directly like you can do now?

What this means to me.

1. Nintendo selling out its own fan base. I wont be taking part in any upgrade unless worthwhile games come out and that means more than a mario or zelda game.

2. No more F zero GX, Sonic adventure 2 most likely

3. If I upgrade and want to keep my games I am stuck in the same rubbish EU territory.

4. Also what of the games already. Will they all be rereleased and we are expected to buy HD versions of them.

5. I will be getting a PS3 when this happens.
