I wanted to play Xenoblade for a long time. Everywhere I go the game is expensive. Is Xenoblade that good? Is it worth every penny that I find in my couch cushions? Or should wait for X to come out on Wii U?
It genuinely is. Unless you hated every idea Final Fantasy XII (specifically that one, not just modern FF games in general) tried to bring, it definitely is worth every penny. For the record, I'm currently playing Mass Effect 3 and I think by the end the entire trilogy will only be a LITTLE bit longer than my one playthrough save file in Xenoblade. Yes, one of the most popular western RPG games, the whole trilogy, is not too much longer than one Wii game.
That's a lot of money for one game... but if I could justify $90 considering the amount of time spent enjoying (not just playing, but deeply enjoying) the game. Not everyone will like it as much as I do though.
Sort-of good news though: GameStop.com dropped the price by $10, so the game is a little bit cheaper. If you have an PowerUp Pro membership then it's another 10% off for used games. While $90 seems awfully expensive, I'd have no qualms recommending the game at $72 to anyone who likes JRPGs.
I looked up everything about Xenoblade. $80-90 is worth 100+ hours of gameplay. It's better than paying $60 for a game that has a 3-6 hour campaign. I'm going to buy this game and experience it for myself.
It's worth it. Not only because it is one of the best JRPGs out there or the wealth of content: it's only going to get more expensive from here on out.
Best thread ever

Xenoblade feels like the true successor to Xenogears. No contest, the best RPG of the generation in my books.
Nintendo was really the platform for classic RPGs this time around. Xenoblade to follow up Xenogears. The Last Story to follow up the PS era of Final Fantasy. Radiant Historia to follow up Chrono Trigger.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

The DS makes sense, but the Wii? The amount of RPGs on PS3 and even the Xbox 360 greatly outnumber those on the Wii. With stuff like Ni No Kuni, Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Xillia, Nier, Tales of Vesperia, Lost Oddysey, new Final Fantasy games, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata (if you can deal with its long-winded nature), etc., it kind of makes the Wii look bad for RPGs. It also doesn't help that there are zero WRPGs on the Wii.
But yeah, Xenoblade is easily the best JRPG of this generation. Its arguably the best JRPG ever, actually. Absolutely incredible.

I think Xenoblade is worth more than $90, even more so when you compare it to what the Wii U has been offering at $60. When I got the game on release, I had never completed an action RPG and the only RPGs I had completed were in the Pokémon and Mario franchises. Even with my RPG history against it, Xenoblade took me away with its first setting. The detail and the scope just blew me away.

Hmm I guess I was including Zelda and Monster Hunter in the JRPG envelope.
PS3 was a fantastic platform for JRPGs for sure. So turbulent in my feels though. Square Enix broke my heart. Publishers stopped giving tri-Ace money. Some great exclusives went to Microsoft, where they were purchased by about 4 people.
WRPGs haven't usually been my cup of tea though. Really enjoyed Dragon Age and am trying to play through the Mass Effect trilogy, but it's not particularly high on my backlog priority list.

Geez, I think this thread just convinced me that I need to buy this! :0

I'm so excited! I think I'm getting this tomorrrow. My brother is going to check my local GameStop for it and buy me a copy if it's in stock. Sadly I won't be able to play it till Monday though.
