Thanks for posting that link. Though the review is overall positive, I am struck by all the 'between the lines' politics....

We were just talking about this - how overlooked fun is in relation to 'media checklist' game design. This is as close to an apology as Nintendo is going to get....

This is ridonculous - no 'skill' in Wii Sports? Obviously motion plus prededicates perhaps different control inputs - but where is the 'luck' in Wii Sports? Golf is a particularily well designed arcade game.

Interesting - in stark contrast to Aussie IGN review, this reviewer distances himself form coreheads, instead of pandering to them....a breakthrough.

An 8.9 is a good score. I don't see what the problem is. You expect them to give a 10 or something to Wii Sports?

how does an 8.9 mean they hate 'good games'? much as i am loath to leap to IGN's defense about anything, an 8.9 is not a bad score at all. wake me up when someone gives it a 5.

ah, ok... lol, ballkirby1, it would be better if you put the entire post in the post itself, instead of half in the title and half in the post.

either way, it's still not a 5, and I must say I'm glad to see a reviewer voicing a concern I brought up in the 'are you getting WSR' thread or whatever it's actually titled -- My copy of Wii Sports has been collecting dust after maybe an hour or two's worth of play when I first got my Wii, tops. I'm not interested in any more flat paperweights, to be honest. :3

I am just saying it is interesting to see media politics and group think bleed and smear in reviews over time. Persepctive changes...

i wasn't replying to you, dude, i was replying to the OP. The entire post is split between title and actual post area, so I thought 'They gave it an 8.9. Which officially proves IGN AU hates good games.' meant that IGN AU had given it an 8.9, and that ballkirby1 was calling that a bad score (which they apparently weren't, and as i have edited my post to reflect).

How can there be so much confusion in one little thread?

OP: IGN UK gave WSR an 8.9, but IGN AU gave it a 6.5. Because UK raved about it, this proves that AU hates good games.

Does this prove I like good games? No. None of us have played it, and saying IGN AU "officially hates good games" because they give it a fair (not bad) score is ridiculous. And I created a thread on this topic earlier.
