So I was throwing around idea's for another thread about episodic gaming and single player expansions and I got to thinking about downloadable content in Nintendo games and how the playerbase would react to it. Now the usual type of DLC we tend to see is Multiplayer option similar to the Pimin 3 battle maps where its more to further the co-op stuff in the game. I'm the type of person who'd rather have substantial single player DLC. I skipped the bioshock Infite season pass because I knew the challenge in clouds wouldn't interest me as much as burial under the sea,
So now to my point would you like to see more single player DLC ala Super Luigi U or the Fire Emblem map packs. Let's take Zelda for example and imagne that Skyward Sword came out on the Wii U at its launch. After that at the next E3 Nintendo announced some DLC for the game which take place after the main game dealing with Zelda and Link founding Hyrule
Or say a few months after X we get more single player DLC furthering the story like we see in games like Skyrim or Final Fantasy.
WAT!

I'd rather Nintendo use their resources to make more games rather than add onto the ones they already made, to be honest. The Fire Emblem DLC was incredibly overpriced, and Super Luigi U felt too redundant for my tastes.
With Zelda and X being especially long games anyways, I don't really think DLC would be for me.

I like my games complete and full when I play them. When I buy a game (especially from Nintendo), I expect it to be complete. 60 bucks for a game isn't cheap. 40 bucks for a game isn't cheap so if I were to hear that Nintendo was offering STORY BASED DLC after a game released...that... would tick me off.
I have nothing against DLC. I like how DLC is done for Shin Megami Tensei IV and Fire Emblem: Awakening. Its not necessary and the only people who buy it are the ones who want more from the game. None of the DLC impacts the story at all.
Then there's the pricing of DLC. I already hate story based DLC. Now if story based DLC were to cost over 10 bucks then screw that game. 10 bucks is the max amount I would ever buy for DLC and that DLC would have to be mind-blowingly epic.
I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I like DLC. Story-based, multiplayer, or anything as long as it is good. What I don't like is when a game is shipped uncomplete with the DLC to finish the game or when the DLC doesn't add anything to the actual game, like character skins. DLC is fantastic but can easily be used for "evil" means
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I'm personally not a fan of DLC and by the time I complete a game as-is from the disk I am usually ready to move on to something else. I suppose that could change though.
To blessed to be stressed.

What Would Duane Do? Rynoggery
if it adds new interesting stuff and doesn't mess with the original DLC-less game's main plot significantly, I'm all for it

If it's something worth buying and it isn't simply a cash drive then I'm all for it. Day 1 DLC is bull and so is forcing people to "upgrade" so they can keep playing the game online. What Nintendo has done so far is more than fine.
I mean go back and look at some of the titles Nintendo have done in the past now that we've seen New Super Luigi U. Majora's Mask could have been OoT DLC, Super Mario Galaxy 2 could have been Super Mario Galaxy DLC, Spirit Tracks could have been Phantom Hourglass DLC, Pokemon Black/White 2 could have been Pokemon Black/White DLC. That's the sort of scale New Super Luigi U was. Hell even Wii Sports Resort could have been slowly released as DLC for Wii Sports and they're kinda doing that with Wii Sports Club now.
Don't paint them with the EA brush because so far they've shown that they're well above that.
i wish they would do it for nintendo land and ar games. like how they added new games to mii plaza on 3ds, even though none of them look that good and i don't think i'll get any of those. i really want to see some new ar games though.

they're probably waiting the next handheld to continue the AR thing, I mean 3DS' camera sucks to detect cards, it needs high lighting to not fail... or start selling super shiny cards that glow in the dark it would solve the problem....

yeah if the 3DS had better cameras AR games could end being actually great. imagine how cool it would be to use AR markers to do all kinds of cool stuff maybe even setting a whole stage for fighting games by placing markers around!

I wouldn't buy new AR games if they came out. It was fun for the first day or so but now? I'm kinda over the idea. Give me more streetpass content any day.

I like "high quality" DLC, the likes of NSMB: Luigi U. That was awesome. 20 bucks for a world of completely new levels AND a new character with different physics? Yea, that's awesome. 5 bucks for a map or two every now and then? Not as much of a fan.
Wait and make it something substantial, even if you need to charge a bit more ($20 didn't seem too much for me).
I don't like the idea. When I buy a game I like it to be a stand-alone independent release. I think DLC are a great way to keep a game alive, but the risk is that you use them as an excuse to release a half-baked product and make it decent in the future.
Wind Waker for example would benefit from a couple of dungeons more, but seriously, this kind of content wouldn't sound right if sold and added after release.
I'm all for DLC when it comes to missions for Pikmin or challenge levels for Mario, you know, games with emphasis on the challenge and the score - but to think of a downloadable dungeon in Zelda or a downloadable sector in Metroid sends shivers down my spine (in a bad way obviously).
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Define 'complete'.
Whatever the game is, there is always room for more content. More characters, more backgrounds/stages, more quests, more features, more weapons.
You may call Super Mario 64 to be complete. But then Super Mario 64 DS came along and added a whole bunch of fun new content.
Games can never be complete as long as people have an imagination.
surely they could even get on the trend of turning some sequels with only minor changes(that is, almost no changes in the gameplay if any at all) into full fledged DLC for a slightly cheaper price than a new game, the core is already done all they'd do is use that core to add new content, I mean you can't complain the sequel is the same as the original if it's just a DLC with lower production cost than a whole game from scratch. of course it would only be good if not overused. no sarcasm in any point here, really.

As long as it's not as overpriced as the Fire Emblem stuff I'm good. $8 for a Zelda dungeon? Count me in! I think DLC should be priced similar to the game. For example, if the Zelda game has 8 dungeons for $60, that's $7.50 per dungeon, so maybe $8 for a DLC dungeon?
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
