So Japanese exclusives

Square Enix made how many 360 AAA exclusives?

In other words, outselling a console that failed in Japan doesn't mean suddenly 3rd parties are going to throw money at a console that has a couple of million people, at most, who own the console.

It is the most basic of economic theories - don't spend more money on a product than you can make back in sales. I cannot believe I actually have to explain it.

Some times people take risks

Lol. Do the math and get back to me.

Here, I will help: A AAA exclusive will cost $50 million to make. Assuming that about 30 per cent of console owners will buy a blockbuster, and assuming that revenue from game development that goes to the publisher is $30 per game, how many consoles need to be in the market for an AAA game to even break even?

What about the WiiU almost outselling the 360 in squares homeland?

What does this even have to do with anything?

More than Japan's Wii U (and PS3) numbers. Hope they plan to release in multiple regions if this math is accurate

Based on everything I've read, there's a pretty good chance it could be Tomb Raider. I doubt it, but if it was, I know I'd buy it, because my Wii U has become my system of choice now that I know that the Gamepad will still work when I'm in my room (hooray for my thin walls and room position!).
Of course, it could also be Lightning Returns. That seems a bit more likely, as the game will have more time and be on all three consoles.

That's why there are so few AAA games that remain regionally exclusives. It's a difficult business, making blockbuster games.

Maybe the next Deus Ex?!? I loved Human Revolution.

Here is a new petition to get Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengence on the Wii U!!!

Well, hopefully the will release all the FF games we missed thanks to the Wii's graphics. They dont have to be remakes, well not all of them....
However, I believe that some developers might be holding back on releasing titles, probably brainstorming new ideas for the next gen. Oh yeah and probably working on DQ and a spin off.

I'm honestly concerned we won't get all the major Square Enix games going into this next gen due to graphics differences. Square Enix seems to really be pushing their new engine, do we even know if the Wii U can run it?

Not saying the Wii U has weak graphics capabilties, but given Square's ambitions I've noticed over the past couple years in that regard, I can't say Wii U is completely guaranteed the best the developer has to offer.

I do hope though, however, that we get some great Square Enix games on the Wii U. Call me crazy, but they're honestly one of my favorite third-party developers. Deal with it.

Another crystal chronicles disappointment most likely, though something Deus Ex related would be very nice.

Hate to burst phoenix and Hokori bubble but the port ios probably either Tomb Raider or sleeping dogs.

Square-enix being a Japanese company means nothing when it comes to consoles. In Japan the console market is becoming smaller compared to the handheld market and any console game is going to be want top be sold in the bigger markets.

Here's what's most likely to come to the Wii U from Square-enix.

Dragon Quest X
A final fantasy spin PFF game
And ports

The Wii U will never be the lead console for multi platform AAA square title.

Square Enix's new engine is for 'next gen' hardware. Not current gen hardware. The PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U are all comparably powerful but none will handle that engine.

Another crappy rhythm game with HD tacked onto the end of the title.

So are they banking on possible "next-gen" hardware?

Yeah because adding another processor with a shiny new case makes everything next gen these days.

I doubt they're spending $100 million or whatever this engine cost to build on a gamble. SE will have a solid idea from meetings and so on of what Sony and Microsoft will be offering in the next gen hardware, and are building the engine around expected specs.
