There's no guarantee that those systems will sell. That would be true if SE was putting all the eggs in that basket. It isn't. It has a robust mobile business and it has a range of existing proprietary engines that can be used in the long term for Wii U/ 3DS/ Vita development. By creating a next gen engine now, SE will also be a forerunner in the next gen, and won't have to license other expensive engines from the likes of Crytek when the next gen consoles do launch. As far as I can tell the engine can also be applied to PC gaming, should Steambox take off. SE is hedging bets right now and making sure it's ready for any direction the market takes. It's a loss making proposition in the short term, as R&D and marketing budgets tend to be higher, but I'd say SE is in a better position than, say, Activision or Capcom.

The next world ends with you game is probably ios. Versus 13 doesn't instill faith in Kingdom Hearts 3 and that is at least four years out. Adding to that There have been three dragon quest games that haven't had any mention of being translated. Type-0 is never being translated Final Fantasy 14 nearly killed the entire company Lightning returns looks okay but kind of tired of that universe now They keep investing money to build costly engines and barley use them. There is a final fantasy V remake coming out but its probably ios/android. The edios side of Squeenix is doing great though.

Which means no one knows if it's actually any good. How did the iOS version decrease the value of the series? Especially when most people said it was actually pretty good.
