Topic: Wii U system update

If you follow the link at joystic.com posted by the other gentleman PONGbyATARI it says that Nintendo will be doing some online maintenance today & the update maybe fully launched by tomorrow. This means there's no update today but tomorrow.

This may be true, but it should also be noted that Extended Maintenance will continue from 1PM (PT)/4PM (ET) to 7PM (PT)/10PM (ET).

Regardless, it's going to take a little longer.

yeah the e-shops down for matanence now so i imagine it will go live overnight.

I honestly doubt they'll be in HD.

They already are, I think. F-Zero, Kirby, Punch-Out!!, and Balloon Fight are as HD as they're gonna get.

I don't like to dash your hopes guys but seeing how Nintendo works I doubt we'll get the update today. Nintendo had a tendency to wrap up things usually close to the end.

By the way, finishing a service maintenance doesn't mean that Nintendo needs to start the next step rightaway. I think they will start the next step (April update) tomorrow. So don't wait for it today cuz you might be disappointed.

@Cheaptrick I am well aware of Nintendo's track record, but it doesn't hurt to be optimistic.

That said, I wouldn't be too upset if I didn't see an update until Saturday. As it stands, I won't have the time to give my Wii U the attention it deserves for a good week-and-a-half! (I know, it's sad )

I know how badly you want what's tomorrow for today but according Nintendo as posted PONGbyATARi it's tomorrow so it should not be today if you're to follow what Nintendo posted on it's Facebook page.

I am in an Eastern Time Zone so I anticipate that it will be released either late night for us or early morning. Nintendo will most likely release at this time to reduce traffic which will slow down the update (like when the Wii U launched and everyone was trying to update their consoles at the same time). I do not think that maintenance has anything to do with the update but rather it has more to do with the uploading of Virtual Console titles for tomorrow and the linking of the Wii Shop Channel (from Wii Mode) and the Wii U eShop (in order to make Shop Channel to eShop paid transfers), they might also be turning the eShops off until the update rolls through in order to minimize bandwidth issues with the update. Of course this is all just my speculation.

I'm sure that Nintendo will release the update soon. I'm crossing my fingers for Kirby Super Star and Link to the Past.

Is there any news on the initial batch Wii U VC games, the trailer showed some games but did not say when they would be released and which would come at launch.

Oh no, we have to wait a whole extra day!? OH THE HUMANITY, MY LIFE IS MEANINGLESS!!!

But in all seriousness, I don't mind waiting just a little longer. The current loading speed doesn't really bother me anyway.

If you're familiar on how Nintendo works then you should expect the update by tomorrow morning around 9-10 AM central.

Well I leave on a trip in like 9 hours so I guess I won't be downloading the update until I get back in a week. I suppose it doesn't make much difference, I wouldn't have really had time to enjoy it yet. Was tempted to just bring my Wii U with me so I get to enjoy the VC launch (as well as Rayman Challenge levelsif they hit US this week) but it would be extra luggage on the airplane.

Don't worry, Wii U VC. I will be back to play with you in only a week.

Well Nintendo just posted this on their official page on facebook.
I'm glad THIS game will be available at launch. Can't wait to spend a $1.50 just to upgrade it from the original Wii VC.

Maybe there is a chance the VC games will come after midnight? It happened with 3DS VC launch and the ambassador games, they both appeared after midnight.
