I bought the Wii U for local co-op action. Specifically, 4 player local co-op. If I wanted great 1 player experience, I goto PC. Or possibly PS4 or XBox One.
We need more great local co-op games.
We do have some, but lets keep 'em coming.
I have super mario world 3d. Fun game.
Mario Kart 8 - fun, but without battle arenas, the game feels neutered.
I just bought NBA Jam 2010. Very fun
I just bought Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Somewhat fun.
Nintendo land - very fun.
Tank tank is pretty fun, could have been great....just needs more polish
Will be getting smash bros for christmas.
Bring on the gauntlet games.
Played the fifa 13 demo....pretty complicated....might buy.

Get your refurbished wii remotes with nunchucks from nintendo (used to be for 20 bucks....what a steal) and we are all good to go.

Bring back Tecmo Super Bowl! Dang madden....locking up the nfl license.

Add Rayman Legends and New SMB U to that list. The Wii U has more local-multi focused games than a lot of other platforms have games in general. I don't think it particularly needs more given that we're already swimming in them. If anything in needs more single player experiences.

new SMB U without a doubt is a good local co-op.

Personally co-op in rayman never clicked with me. I would liken this game more to a puzzle/platformer at times, which i dont believe works well for 4 at once.

3d world, smash, mk8, and nintendo land... i'm not sure you have time for much more

amen on the sports stuff being locked up now. Really a shame that nobody even tries to make sports games much anymore. thanks EA!

I kind of think it needs the opposite to be honest. Pretty much every game I own for the WiiU right now is local CoOp..

New Super Mario Bros. U (4p CoOp)
New Super Luigi U (4p CoOp)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (2p CoOp)
Super Smash Bros. WiiU (2p CoOp, 4-8p Multiplayer)
Mario Kart 8 (4p Multiplayer)
Rayman Legends (4p CoOp)
Super Mario: 3D World (4p CoOp)
NintendoLand (4p Multiplayer)

And from the looks of it that list is only going to grow next year with;

Yoshi's Wooly World (2p CoOp)
Kirby & The Rainbow Curse (4p CoOp)
Splatoon (4p Multiplayer)

If there one thing the WiiU does not need it is more CoOp games IMO. I want more big singleplayer experiences like Bayonetta. Xenoblade Chronicles X & ZeldaU are going to be a breath of fresh air next year, but they are not nearly enough. The WiiU is pretty much overrun b multiplayer games. And sure, that is not a bad thing, but I wish that Nintendo would include online CoOp as well.

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

I 2-player should be mentioned, the game that everyone seems to forget, with the best 2-player modes of all: Pikmin 3 (both co-op and bingo battle)

I think it has a good amount. Wii U is easily the go-to system for local co-op/multiplayer games.

I would like an online co-op, ala Left 4 Dead. Back when I played those types of games, that was a lot of fun. I think Nintendo could make some serious noise by doing a new IP with something along those lines.
