There didn't seem to be a main thread for asking about this type of thing, but I'm sorry if there is.
Anyway, I was looking to get and external hard drive for my Wii U and was wondering if this one would work. From what research I did, I'd assume it would, but I wanted to ask some people who might have more experience with this before buying it.
I have the 1TB version of the same hard drive. It works fine for me. You will need a Y Cable for it. I have read that some people don't recommend Toshiba hard drives. Mine has worked fine so far.
Anyways, as I have always said. Any HDD will work if you have a powered USB hub connected to the back of the Wii U. If you have a portable drive then if you want to run without a powered USB hub then you'll need a Y-cable. Otherwise a drive that's powered, usually the non "portable" models, will work fine. Also save your money and don't bother buying a drive in the TBs because you'll never use all that space.

You might be right, I've got a lot of software including many disc-releases and I've used a bit over 300GB of my 2TB desktop drive. That was a spare, but I think it's quite likely I'll end up with over 500GB of software so if I was doing it from scratch I'd go with a 1TB device.
Alright, thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to go ahead and get the hard drive and just buy a y-cable. I don't need a crazy amount of space, and I'm not trying to break my wallet either.
