Hi i just wanted to ask you guys, if Nintendo announces The NEW Wii U with similar branding and upgrades to The NEW 3DS, what features would you want it to have to be worth the upgrade? Ill start us off with mine:
Faster processing power to make Zelda Wii U shine!! (everything just runs better)
Integration of The NEW 3DS as a secondary controller. (eg play new super mario bros wii u with 3ds instead of wii mote)
Smaller form factor
Included Gamecube controller ports like the old Wii had
More harddrive space
Cheaper price point. 249.99 base price
Better internet speed like New 3DS got.
Interchangable faceplates for Game Pad
Possibly an option to use New 3DS instead of Game Pad which means you can buy a No GamePad Wii U for 149.99 (minus gamepad which i hear is about 100)
any more hopes or wants for this vaporware? I am totally making it up but do not see the harm in having fun making up something.
Who really knows.. maybe they will announce something like this.
I'm not sure it would work in the same way as it has for the New 3DS in terms of prolonging it's life, it'd probably make the situation even worse, so it would be a terrible move on Nintendo's part.
Though saying that I'd probably buy it anyway
I guess I'd want better hardware in general, support for 2 gamepads, multitouch screen, maybe a bigger hard drive but isn't much of an issue. Not much else.
I can't imagine them doing a redesign that is more than a cosmetic change.

Nintendo do have a habit of introducing redesigns of consoles. New 3ds and mini Wii for example. So I dare say they may do something with the Wii U. They could introduce 'no moving parts' console that downloads everything. It could ship with a pro controller, be super cheap and a firmware patch could enable you to use a new 3ds as a game pad and use it to stream the Wii U and play away from tv.. It would test the waters for their next console which I am sure will integrate home and mobile gaming. Or maybe I just spouted a load of nonsense
Lol they'll release the 8 GB Wii U Mini that lacks Wii backwards compatibility and doesn't have any online features for only $249.99!
Seriously though I don't want any gimped "upgrades" for the Wii U and Nintendo would be better off spending their time and money making games for the console instead.
Would love if they did but seem unlikely. To be honest what on earth was Nintendo thinking of realizing the Wii U in 2012 knowing Sony and Microsoft easily had a year to make a much more powerful console.
Announcements of new or updated hardware from Nintendo.
2015 ????
2014 was New 3DS
2013 was 2DS
2012 Wii Mini
2011 Wii U
2010 3DS XL
2009 3DS
2008 DSi
2007 Wii
you get the idea..
Wii was 2006
DSi 2009 in NA and PAL
3DS in 2011
3DS XL in 2012
Wii U was 2012 as well
Wii Mini in 2013 (2012 was only in Canada)
And remember that the New 3DS wasn't released in NA and Europe until this year, 2015
Congratulations, you've managed to get almost every release date wrong. Next time, google is your friend.
I wouldn't buy it. The game library has just started to get good. but if they do this, then I'm done with Nintendo for a while.
Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

Do you want them to repeat the console mistakes that Sega made?
Also, on the name thing, they should have named it "The New Nintendo Entertainment System" or something similar. Using an older name that no one likely remembers or shows itself as being a different system than the last system you had is the best way to go. Most people thought the Wii U was just a tablet for the Wii, which didn't help it at all. Heck, they could have named it the "NHD" or "Nintendo High Definition" to show that it was clearly an upgrade from the Wii, and to pay respects to the Nintendo 64.
1. The Quality of Life platform is being worked on. Nintendo should focus on that.
2. The New 3DS cannot be used as a controller for some games because it lacks clickable analogue sticks.
3. The Wii U is already powerful enough, besides, it'd be a jerk move to announce Zelda Wii U and then a year later be like "...but it only on/runs better on New Wii U!"
4. One game on the Wii U uses GameCube controllers. One. Why would they integrate GameCube ports for one games? Even with future games, developers will try to integrate the GamePad. Idk, it just seems like a step back at this point. Plus, not everyone has GameCube controllers or wants them, this would be unnecessary to many.
5. Better Internet speed? The Wii U is one of the best console browsers yet.
6. Adding stuff + lower base price = Nintendo makes New Wii U at a loss, which isn't something they need right now.
