I just picked up a copy of Pikmin 3 and wanted to run something by you guys. When out to get it, I first stopped by my local Gamestop, but they were sold out. Then I tried the Mejier store (my one Gamestop is pretty much it for games stores in the area), and they were likewise sold out. I then bit the bullet and went to Wal-Mart, and I got a copy there. The guy who got it out of the case for me mentioned as he was grabbing it that they had been selling like crazy, and it seemed like he was getting it every ten or fifteen minutes. In fact, I got the third to last copy they had.
Now I don't know if this was just a case of stores stocking a very limited number of copies, but it was certainly pleasing to me as a supporter of the Wii U (probably never been so happy to be run around looking for a game before). Has anyone else had similar experiences in getting Pikmin 3? Just trying to get a feel for how well its selling in North America.
I downloaded it, so I don't know what that was like, but I could imagine that it is selling very quickly since it's the first game that was very anticipated for the Wii U. If it really is selling this quickly, I hope Nintendo learns from this when they release other big games, such as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros., so no one has to wait to play them!
People are desperate to buy a game for their Wii U after the drought so I imagine everyone is excited to finally be able to buy something and give them a reason dust off their U.
Sorry couldn't resist using that cliche.
To blessed to be stressed.

I just got my copy today through pre order.... it is awesome and worth your hardships and patience. Feels like the beginning of things to come for Wii U owners and Nintendo fans.
It certainly is good to hear! I downloaded mine, personally, so I'm really interested to hear what the digital sales numbers are like (if Nintendo ever releases them). I always think it's exciting when games/consoles are hard to find, regardless of the company. It adds just a bit of "specialness" to whatever it is you're trying to get.
I wouldn't know, I chose preorder since I've been waiting for this game for like a decade and I didn't want to take any chances. But I do know that when I got it Sunday, the store only had one guide left... But for $8 who wouldn't get the guide just in case?

I'm just ready to see how this will affect the Wii U's sales than the game itself.
I'm one of the people that is of the opinion that Pikmin 3 won't move a whole lot of consoles by itself (I would love to be wrong about that though). I think the Wii U will gradually increase in sales as more games come out this fall and winter. In my opinion, no one game this fall will move a ton of consoles, but the sum total of them will begin moving them. Next year, Mario Kart and Super Smash should each really move consoles individually though. Just my two cents on that.

Same with me. And it was worth the wait!

There were a ton of copies at the Best Buy in my area. I think they just ordered alot. They sell gaming stuff(including Wii U) pretty consistently, so they stock the shelves quite a bit.

I have a friend who bought the Wii U because of Pikmin 3, Pikmin 2 is his second favorite game ever, and has started a lot of running jokes between us.
Also, to the maker of this thread, you have a Meijer? You must live in Michigan.

Indiana actually. It just opened over here. Definitely better than Wal-Mart. Though that's not necessarily saying much hahaha.
Here in Australia I didn't have much of a problem. It was sold out or not mentioned on the stock checkers on various sites so I was a little bit worried. Then I went to the shops and they had quite a few in stock at a couple of places. I actually had more trouble finding Need for Speed Most Wanted for Wii U believe it or not. Probable more low stock than good sales in that case.
