Holy crap, the feels. I remember seeing that commercial and begging for that game to my parents because I was a HUUUUGE Kirby fan! We were on vacation in Florida at the time, and we went into a Walmart for some reason, and somehow I got the game! That was back when the original DS didn't have a whole lot of quality games. All I had before that was Mario 64 DS, which was probably the Mario game that I was the MOST hyped up for ever.

Check out my YouTube channel if you love gaming, and Nintendo (especially Metroid) I think you'll enjoy my videos. :)

i do think nintendo needs a better marketing strategy. even if this ad does get kids attention, it does cement Nintendo as a kiddy company. older Nintendo ads appealed for kids while also being funny for adults. remember the N64 Smash commercial? Nintendo needs more commercials like that, the kind of commercial everyone wants to watch even if they`re not into the product itself

That commercial was sweet and cute. This new commercial is aimed at 2 year olds.

Ya. That commercial was cute, but still creative and artistic. The new Kirby ad looks like something off a children's educational tape with a patronizing voice over.

How can Rainbow Curse even look "cool" in a commercial? Its art style is too cutesy.

Ironically. Imagine a deep "monster truck" voiceover talking about how you are a clay ball barreling through enemies and obstacles.

@skywake
That commercial is hilarious and goofy. Not really aimed at very small children.

While I don't have a problem with how the current commercial is, I do think they should just re-release this commercial replacing the DS parts with GamePad parts lol. This commercial is fantastic.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I do think it's important to show off the gameplay. The voice is annoying for sure, but it shows off the amazing graphics of the game as well as the gameplay, and that is extremely important.

I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke!

The commercial seems fine to me. If it gets its target demographic interested enough to play it, then why the need to complain?

Besides just because old Kirby commercials worked for you doesn't mean new ones can't work for kids today.

How do you know the target demographic is interested enough? Did you like being spoken to in a patronizing voice as a kid?

A better question is how you know that the target demographic feels patronized. It seems like you're really only basing that on how you feel the commercial would be treating you at that age. I don't see how any kid could feel like they are being talked down to by this, and I've seen much worse on networks like CN or Nick. In the end we'll see how well it works for Nintendo, and if it works, then there's nothing to complain about.

Because I have a kid sister, and when I talk to her like the guy in the trailer, she notices and tells me to stop

So after reading through all this fuss about how degrading this commercial is to children, I finally watched it.
And then I laughed.

In no way is it anywhere near as good as most late 90's-to-early 00's era Nintendo commercials. However, it wasn't patronizing in the slightest. It didn't look any different from any other commercial targeted at the same age group, like - for example - Disney Infinity or LEGO Minecraft.

That evidence is completely anecdotal.

This commercial is insulting. It's colorful, cute, and light-hearted, and it's selling a game that's also colorful, cute, and light-hearted.

In what way is this appropriate?! I call for a boycott.
