well it's good to see Nintendo finally starting to GET online. If this alone is what convinces you to get a Wii U instead of games, you should still feel bad, but it's good to see Nintendo catching up finally.
also, i don't care how popular they are, my immediate thought about anything called an e-reader is that silly GBA thing with the cards. :V
apple is for fruits LMAO get it....
How does Nintendo providing digital books prove that they get online gaming?
Seriously, it's getting ridiculous what people expect from these companies. What's the next brilliant endeavor Nintendo should embark on? You want Nintendo to start competing with Amazon and open their own online retail store? Nintendo is a video game company, that's what they know best. People expect them to compete with Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Google, etc. in areas they have no use being in.
I hope this is true--I would LOVE to have the book I'm writing on a Nintendo system, it would fit perfectly. =D

It means a unifed account system between the Wii U and the 3DS.
How? We don't even have a proper online network on the 3DS. There is no 3DS version of Xbox Live or PSN. No single User ID, no online chat (except for Swapnote, but that's more of an app), no matchmaking, no messeging, no friend requests.

The only way that they could have a book system would be through a unifed account system. Also not having those things Implemented doesn't mean the back-end isn't their.
WAT!

So do you mean the Wii U Shop and 3DS eShop should be unified? If so, then yes I agree with you.
Technically they don't need a unified account. You didn't need one to get DS game demo downloads from your Wii or to use a link up feature between a Wii/DS cross console game, ex. Beyblade Metal Fusion. Also, Nintendo could take the easy way out and just make people use their CN account as a unified account. Which would still be a bit of a hassle.

Actually that would simplify things a lot more. It would make redownloading stuff on a replacement console much easier. Simply link your replacement system to your Club Nintendo account, and all your purchase info will be available.
Wow, this doubled fast. Why did we go from Nintendo adding a neat new function and turn this into unifying online shop accounts and who Nintendo compete's with. I wouldn't go that far yet as it only really said what the wii u would get not the 3ds

Now that I think about it it's much more practical than I thought. Still, it'd be nice to just set up an account on the system itself rather than registering online. If Nintendo could make new buyers create a CN account from the system when they're setting it up and use that as the universal account, I actually wouldn't mind. Only time will tell if Nintendo has realized how to do online properly though.

That's actually a really good idea. But since Nintendo hasn't done that with the 3DS, I doubt they will do it with the Wii U.
So I wonder if they are going to eventually have audio books? Also I'm assuming that you'll be able to use the same point/money cards that you use to download e-shop stuff?
