If last gen is anything to go by, 3rd parties would be potentially making alot more money by having a port of their games on Wii U.

Can you prove this, with something that isn't a brainfart. Y'know facts and stats.

First off, it's cheaper port games than develop them.

Second, bigger audience. Wii U currently has around double the install base of either the PS4 or Xbox One, equalling both combined. It's literally comparing 2 and 2 to 4.

Third, Nintendo has the 3DS which is seling well, so people are inclined to buy the home console from Nintendo.

Last, the kids that had Wii are older now. If 3rd parties aren't confident that games will sell on Wii U, then there's no reason to be confident that they'll sell elsewhere, either. I'm 21. My age doesn't reflect what console I buy, and it never has.

Statistics can be looked at and observed anyway you want, according to the book. I gave you price, install base numbers, brand awareness from install base numbers of a platform from the same company, and age differences between a generation. All those aspects of the situation include numbers. That's enough to be a statistic.

The attach rate has been quite bad for a lot of 3rd party Wii U games though.

All the numbers except for sales, but what do those matter

You're right Scar, third parties probably break even releasing these games on other systems. They're really just saving their games to make the ultimate version on the Wii U where everyone will make their money.

Can't wait to see all these third party games start pouring in.

And these three are a joke.

The kids with a Wii will buy mature games now. That is your great reasoning? People like the 3DS, therefore they'll buy a Wii U? The rate of sales and attach rate don't matter, the Wii U released first and has the most sales therefore its the best platform to develop for? The Wii had the most sales for nearly an entire generation and it still received the least support.

You can't be taking these seriously.

@Jazzer94
That doesn't matter, besides in some cases(Ubisoft and Activision). The ports that Wii U has gotten don't need to sell gangbusters. CoD Black Ops II sold enough to be profitable a year ago, and it was only a fraction of what the other systems sold.

Activision either wasn't inclined to port the 8th gen version of CoD Ghosts to Wii U, or didn't have the know how. That's not Nintendo's issue.

I'm pretty sure that no 3rd parties have been negatively impacted by Wii U sales, except for Ubisoft and Activision. ZombiU didn't even have a chance to sell as well, even 6 months after the console came out, so Ubisofts expectations were probably just as high as they were for RedSteel, when that came out.

It's completely understandable why 3rd parties haven't released that many games, but the ones they did release don't matter that much. Games like 2K 2014 absolutely had to sell well. There's alot of leeway, here.

I'd beg to differ... most people I know who own a 3DS... do not own a Wii U... and, there have been a lot more 3DS units sold than Wii U. 3DS is much cheaper, too, and that's why I only have a 3DS; it's all we can afford.

Again we're back to the idea: There's absolutely no reason to not make games for the Wii U, developers just choose not to.

Yep, very likely.

The variances of support are different, though. The Wii couldn't physically handle most 3rd party games. Now that's not the case.

It's true that Wii U has more sales, and that's because of the past year, with "lackluster" support. Good job.

If people want to say that Wii U won't get 3rd party games, because of audience, it makes just as much sense for any other system, so it's relevant. What exactly makes an Xbox One, PS4, or Wii U owner different? No one knows, so all we have to go off of is age.

My point was brand awareness. If people are familiar with the 3DS, probability points towards those same people making the jump to Wii U, if they plan on buying a home console at all.

Yep the Wii U has the hardware, the sales, the mature user base.

Developers just aren't making as many Wii U games because they dislike Nintendo. Or perhaps they aren't talented enough to handle Nintendo's superior architecture, maybe that's it.

Yeah what would Sony and Microsoft know about brand awareness.

There's reasons why they chose not to, but choices aren't always the same and situations change.

Maybe I didn't want to go for a walk yesterday, but today I do. You see how that works? Why would I have to explain why I would or wouldn't want to go for a walk?

Don't go for a walk, get diabetes and die.

Don't make games that will sell to make a profit (ie not on the Wii U), lose money and die.

I think I'm going to take a walk out of this thread.

Hopefully Nintendo rewards you for your unbridled loyalty.

Yeah what would Sony and Microsoft know about brand awareness.

Their brand awareness is different. Nintendo has been a video game company the longest, so their brand awareness is different. There's a ton of people that still only see Microsoft as being the OS on their PC, and Sony as Walkman or other audio equipment. Sony doesn't exactly excel in every market they're present in, and Microsoft is arguably losing its PC gig to Android and tablet stuff. The market changes.

Yes, when people think of Sony, they think of the Walkman.

You are unbelievable.

Edit: Best of luck to anyone that picks up this lost cause. I've met my quota for the day.

Who...?
Everyone's heard of the Xbox; most people I know have one. Not quite as many people have a PS3, but it's still a lot, and everyone knows what a Playstation is...
