There's a ton of people that still only see Microsoft as being the OS on their PC, and Sony as Walkman or other audio equipment.

Who...?
Everyone's heard of the Xbox; most people I know have one. Not quite as many people have a PS3, but it's still a lot, and everyone knows what a Playstation is...

Even if alot of people know, it doesn't mean it matters to them. I've known people that had no clue that Xbox or PS was Microsoft and Sony. That's because they have other products that aren't in the same market.

It would be like if Nintendo started making TVs or something.

EDIT: To be fair, more people know what companies make Xbox and PS than they used to. Alot of people had no clue that Microsoft and Sony made those, though. I know, because I heard it first hand.

You got a Wii U for third party? You came to the wrong place. If you want third party, try steam.

But Steam won't be getting the next in the ultimate fighting game series.

It appears I am the only one here excited about Ubisoft's Child Of Light? I haven't scene it mentioned once in this entire thread.

Downloadable games don't count because reasons!

but it does look really good and is a good example of Ubisoft not being as boring as some of its peers

Buying a Wii U for 3rd party games is like buying a PS4 to play Nintendo games. PS4 is great, excellent really, but it doesn't have and will never have the truckloads of exclusive Nintendo games, which are some of the best exclusive games in all of gaming.

For those of you old enough to remember generations PRIOR to the Wii, you know that Nintendo has never had major 3rd party support since the early 90's. There are some that act like Wii U not receiving major 3rd party support is a shocker, which to be honest, bewilders me. Nintendo hasn't been a platform for multiplats or AAA 3rd party games in over 20 years. With that said, Wii U has actually seen more meaningful, AAA 3rd party games in just its' first year than the N64, Gamecube or Wii saw their entire lifespans. So I'd actually say the Wii U has TONS of 3rd party games, for a Nintendo console. Which is a nice bonus.

The Wii U doesn't need 3rd party support, just like PS4 doesn't need Nintendo's support. One thrives on Nintendo software and select 3rd party exclusives (which is ALOT- 36 out of the top 50 selling games right now are on Nintendo platforms), the other thrives on various 3rd parties. Each have their own appeal.

If you buy a Wii U, here's what you're going to get: lots and lots of amazing Nintendo games, with the occasional 3rd party exclusive here and there (like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate or Bayonetta 2). I'm sure it'll always get the annual Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty, and maybe one or two others each year, but for the most part it's a console designed entirely for exclusives. Games you can't play elsewhere... Don't get me wrong, you'll be able to buy a few of the the really big AAA annual releases like Batman, Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty every year, but don't count on much else.

You shouldn't look at it like Wii U is MISSING 3rd party games any more than you should look at PS4 as MISSING Nintendo games. It's just not what Nintendo consoles are for. Granted, at least you do get SOME 3rd party games on Wii U, whereas I can guarantee you'll never see a single Nintendo game on another console.

@JaxonH
People still want 3rd party games on Wii U, though. We shouldn't have to justify that not having 3rd party games is ok, because we have Nintendo games. No offense, but that's exactly the kind of attitude people tend to blame for said "problem".

Wii U can and should get these games. There's no reason to settle for any less.

It's not justification it's just the way things are, and the way they've always been. Nintendo consoles have never had 3rd party games, and Wii U is no different. People want 3rd party games there are 2 3rd party consoles in the market. Sure it'd be nice to have them on a Nintendo console, but that'll never happen. It would mean the end of Sony and MS and Nintendo would monopolize the market, because you would have literally every game, Nintendo and 3rd party, on one console. It's fine to want to see more, just don't be upset when it never happens.

Full 3rd party support on Nintendo consoles has never been the case and will never be the case. The reasons why they left are irrelevant and in the distant past. The fact is they'll never fully support Nintendo now or in the future, is for several reasons, one of which is without full 3rd party support, 3rd party fans will continue to buy the other consoles where the support is full. So little to no people buy the games on Nintendo's console. No sales mean no profitability, thus no games. Look at sales charts for the 30+ AAA games brought to Wii U so far, it's abysmal.

Secondly it would allow Nintendo to monopolize the market. Nobody would buy any other console if they could get both Nintendo AND 3rd party games on one machine. Which would mean 3rd parties would have to compete with Nintendo games, and they don't want to do that.

Finally, it should be noted that if you've truly got your heart set on seeing more 3rd party support on Nintendo consoles, people have to start buying the games. 3rd parties aren't going to port games when it won't even break 10,000 sold. And none of us have the power to force gamers to buy more 3rd party games. Just like Nintendo doesn't have the power to force 3rd parties to bring their games, especially when they're flopping left and right.

Best advice I would give is to start petitions, go on these 3rd party websites and their FB and Twitter, and see if you can get 50,000 or more people behind you. I mean more 3rd party support on Nintendo would be nice, but 3rd parties just don't wanna bring the games. Nintendo has nothing to do with it. It's the 3rd parties' games and their decision. Personally, I would just accept reality. There's always been a balance of power, Nintendo games on one console and 3rd party games on the other. But if anyone wants to change that, they're gonna have to convince each and every 3rd party developer that the flops were a fluke, and that there are enough gamers on Nintendo's console who will buy the game that it's worth their time and money.

In the end, if people want change they need to take action, because it's the only way the status quo will ever change. These are 3rd party games, Nintendo has no authority to bring them, so people shouldn't fault them for something they can't control. It starts with showing 3rd parties that AAA games can thrive on Nintendo consoles. So when nobody buys Injustice, nobody buys Splinter Cell, nobody buys AC4, nobody buys Batman Arkham Origins, nobody buys CoD Ghosts, it's not helping the cause
