Well, this sucks. I just called the Gamestop I pre-ordered at and he said they aren't doing a midnight launch. So I'll have to pick it up on Sunday. I was looking forward to the midnight launch too .

Mine said Nintendo did not give them permission to. There are different reasons I've read why this may be. One being possible security reasons.

Some online games include: Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 7, Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS, Super Mario Maker and Splatoon.

Interesting. It's crazy cause the 3DS even had a midnight launch. The Wii/PS3/360, I think, all had midnight launches too.

I still have to check with mine to see if they are doing a midnight launch.

As a dev of blargSNES, just stop with the claims that o3DS can emulate SNES games accurately @ 60fps. It cannot.

And people got shot at some of these, so that's probably why

the problem lies is with the mall they are in... stores need to seek the permission from the company that manages the mall that its in.. my ebgames will not do a midnight release but they will open at 9:00am (mall usually opens on 11:00am on sundays)

I blame the schools.

From what I heard, corporate won't let the stores do it because they feel the consoles are too valuable and so they don't want to open at midnight for security reasons. And other stores in the area said the same, and my friends in another areas got similar responses. So I don't think GS is doing a midnight launch anywhere.

Last year when I preorder Zelda: SS, they said it needed a lot of preorders to have a midnight launch. I don't get why GS did a Midnight launch for BOII (Which stupidly all of my classmates went to, and they are the annoying kind who talk about enjoying killing others in COD), but they won't do one for a system that has a waiting list of over 250,000 people.

You do realise that Black Ops II had millions of preorders nationwide, right?

Or in other words, millions is more than 250,000.

Just called up my local Gamestop, and they aren't doing a midnight launch, but they may do an early morning launch, which is just an hour earlier than they usually open on Sundays.

I think they were talking about the waiting list for the Wii U, not the actual pre orders.

It's just a difference in taste really. A lot of this generation seems to prefer the online gaming more then what I'd consider more story based games, like Zelda or Metroid or something.

Black Ops II is heavily story based as are the Modern Warfare entries.

Same here. Gamestop isn't doing midnight openings for the Wii U from what I've been told. After doing midnight openings for Halo 4 and COD: Black Ops 2 doing a third midnight this month would get to be pretty expensive for them. The one I pre-ordered at is just opening at their normal time on Sunday (11 am CST).
