So I've been thinking about this for a while and since they stated they haven't given a new F-zero because they don't know what new to do, I think I came up with an idea.
First thing, a 'campaign' style mode where you create a racer and your ship using parts you buy. The parts would affect weight, speed, boost, handling etc. You'd earn money from races depending on your placing and the difficulty of the track and you'd use that money for parts, tracks, and stuff to customize your racer. There would also be a little free roaming part between races where you explore Mute City(or some other city) and find shops to buy different level stuff or simply better deals, find other racers and talk with them, heck, maybe even find 'secret courses'. I especially would like the talking to other racers part since that would add some more depth to the world and while it doesn't really do much for gameplay it helps the experience.
Of course there'd be a versus mode(with online of course) where you can use either your custom made ship or the other racers and ships from the game.
For gamepad use, I'd imagine use it to design custom designs on the ships and maybe even a first person view during races(if you want to get nausea) cause the map there during the race would be silly. Don't really see how the gamepad would benefit a racer like F-zero
what do you guys think F-zero U should be like if/when it ever gets made?
I thik it should be F-Zero 3D only for Nintendo 3DS
and my opinion won't change until I get the money for a WiiU

I was thinking Captain Falcon as a vigilante crime fighter! Wait don't go I am serious!
The racers are up to their corrupt ways and Falcon wants to stop it. The game would have two seperate parts, a racing mode that is like tradition Fzero games that advances the plot. But there would be an open world segment where you drive your Blue Falcon around Mute City fighting crime and such in a style similar to GTA, just Nintendo-ized. Of course unlockable characters and cars. Just imagine falcon punching in a game that isnt called "smash bros". And most importantly 30 character online racing!

Preorders available now! (I wish)
I think you're right. Nintendo won't develop another straight up futuristic racer, but potentially they could do something as you describe to flesh the game out more and broaden its appeal.
There just seems like so much untapped potential there with Captain Falcon...I would really like to see this happen. What about Freedom Force meets F-Zero GX. How awesome would that be?!!

Its one of my few ideas for Nintendo that would be awesome if they went through with it. I know they cant make it as a racing game as their biggest competitor would be themselves with Mario Kart. Also, Nintendo doesnt have a 3D beat em up, open world game. Come on that is what we need!
