The only thing that's putting me of is the price of the figures £14.99 a pop.

I was excited about this game until they announce the yearly installments. Why can't one of these toy games just expand the game using the toys themselves? (I know the answer... MONEY) This is why I haven't gotten Skylanders Giants yet, I still need to buy all the characters from the first and buy the Giants game and then finally the Giants themselves.

Because everything each toy unlocks is on-disc. The figures don't work as DLC as people keep saying. They simply command the game names like "Character_Sprocket" or "Location_Darklight" and take actions based on what's being read. They work as keys. If they wanted to do that, they would either need to make a ridiculously massive amount of content on it preemptively, or make proper online DLC which can be enabled with figures(which would strip away part of the gimmick and annoy any customers that don't know about/don't have access to DLC). I don't think that it's impossible, though, I have no idea about coding, but I think that there would be a new Adventure Pack or two for Giants if they could. Either that or everyone's just being greedy and not choosing to because they can simply sell more games like that.

I don't mind buying the base game, I just wish they would support it and not wait a year then move on. I personally would like a game when you pay for the base game and then DLC is released free only to access it we have to buy characters and adventure packs. If a series does this then I will support it.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

My biggest beef is that the toys are all (as far as I know) statues. Why can't they give these things some joints!? Then it would give them much more of a toy aspect. As it is they're meant to either sit on a shelf, or sit on the reader. Bleh. My younger self would not be a fan

The grafic in a game like this is not the most important thing.
Look at Skylanders, dosn`t look all that but still sells by the millions!
I got big belives in this title, have also made a fan site ( http://www.infinity-figures.com ) Take a look and tell me if you like it

There is no doubt that I will purchase this game. My kids and I have had so much fun with Skylanders, and we are all big fans of Disney. With the announcement of Switch Force, however, I have had my interest in this drop just a little. That coupled with Cars being the next play set has not helped. I understand the reasoning behind it. Pixar is what the children seem to think of now and days when they talk Disney animation, and this game is meant to appeal to children.

What I do wonder about this game as it compares to Skyanders is the tokens. The leveling up in Skylanders occurs as you invest time in your character. It seems here all depends on a $5 disc pack. We have time invested in our Skylanders character. My Trigger Happy is my Trigger happy. My daughter's Whirlwind is her Whirlwind. My son's Wham Shell is his Wham Shell. For a lack of a better term, we put time and effort building up each of those respective characters, and while we still use other characters interchangeably with each other, I don't think Infinity will do that for me.

So I thought I'd revive this thread seeing as more info has been surfacing lately. This new trailer released a day or 2 ago and I'm seriously hyped!

The addition Wreck-It Ralph characters pushes my decision on whether or not to buy to a very strong "yes"! Can't wait!

Augh, this game looks like it would be so much fun. But there's no way I'll ever purchase it because of how much content you don't get unless you buy a ton of fairly pricey figures.

:S I know I'll miss out on a great time, but my wallet is not okay with this kind of marketing.

This game actually seems pretty cool. I would probably only buy my most favorite figures and be fine with those. It really depends on what figures they have, and how much the game costs. This definitely looks better than Spyro, IMO.

@MrWalkieTalkie Ohh, this thread definitely deserves more discussion. Anyway, there's just 1 month and a few days until this game is launching everywhere! I've been looking forward to getting it for months! Imagine if the delay hadn't happened, we would have it by now.

The launch play sets will be: Monsters University, Pirates of The Carribean, The Incredibles, Cars and The Lone Ranger. Toy Story in Space is basically confirmed as a play set, but current rumors are pointing to that coming out after launch(November iirc). Personally, I'm looking forward to Toy Story and Pirates the most. Also I can't wait to get my hands on Ralph and Vanellope to play with them in the toy box, so I hope that we get more solid info on them soon!

We've known about the "Scrooge McDuck's Lucky Dime" disc for some time now, but I don't think that power discs nessicarily point to playable characters(not that I wouldn't love it to happen, although keep in mind there are lots of power discs we've seen but gotten no hints of characters from).

Yeah, it's just that the artwork of him on the power disk looks different. He looks more toy-like to me and it matches with artstyle of the others.

I keep saying to myself I'm not going to get it,but the amount of Disney there is,and the potential it has makes me want it so much.
I'll be waiting for the reviews, and to see if I can pick up the Wii U version for about £45

Fun fact: Skylanders has sold over 500 million units. In the US.
Take what you want from that. Source.

Skylanders is a good game though, the Disney game doesn't hold up, they are just relying on their characters... and only being able to take the characters into their own world is too limiting, that would have been the most interesting thing about the game, that alone lowers the value of owning each character...

Maaaaan this game looks great. It's a shame it's tethered to those toys and what-have-you.
