I have to admit I am a little disappointed with just 160 coins for the Wii U at Club Nintendo. This system is $150 more than the 3DS XL and it is worth the same coins. I was expecting more. I know it does not matter, but I was hoping that it would put me pretty close to platinum status buying both systems in the same year.
I had to look up to confirm because this seemed ridiculous to me. I can't believe that, only 160 coins? And no bonus for early buyers (like they do with games)? I already have platinum status but I still think it should be worth more coins than that! Oh, not to mention the Deluxe model is the same amount of coins (though I suppose we do get coins for Nintendo Land).

Yes, I was surprised. Maybe they think the discount off of online purchases is enough for the deluxe holders. I would have thought we would have gotten a little more out of it. Maybe they will make it up on the back end in a post play survey or something.

That certainly is a possibility. It would be nice to see at least a few more coins for the Wii U.
I foresee what you'll do there.

According to IGN, I watched there opening of Wii U and they said Nintendo Land does not come with a code in the Deluxe set. About the coin value, if they were to give it 200-250 coins, I almost would expect them to up the coin value for Platinum. You do have to link your Wii U to get the coins again. However, I do like 160 for the Basic set. If what IGN says is true about Nintendo Land for the Deluxe, than unless Nintendo Land is mentioned in the Hardware Registration survey, I think people could have a problem. BTW you don't get Post Play survey's for Hardware.

Club Nintendo does recognize the difference between the Basic set and the Deluxe set. In theory, this means they could assume anyone who registers the Deluxe set has Nintendo Land, automatically giving them the survey for that too.

Yeah, they really should just automatically give you the coins for Nintendo Land if you register the Deluxe, so let's hope that's why the slip isn't included. If there's really no coins for Nintendo Land, that's incredibly lame to only give 160 coins for a $350 purchase, although I guess we should remember the Wii originally had 0.
(though I suppose we do get coins for Nintendo Land).
Really hate to break it to you all, but you don't. For some reason the bundled version of NintendoLand doesn't have a code. (I am new here! Came here from reddit.com/r/wiiu) I heard this mentioned in an unboxing, but don't remember which one....I will look for a link.

My 3DS at launch was $50 more than the $200 3DS XL now, but both got the same amount of coins when registered, but you don't see me complaining. Coins are a bonus.
edit
And while the Deluxe may not have a code for Nintendoland, you're still getting more for your money with everything else that comes with the Deluxe package.
I'm really annoyed by this. We who are spending up to $350+ on our new systems should be given more coins than someone who goes out an buys as low as a $130 Wii. It's ridiculous. I'm sorry.

You DO realize that Nintendo land gives coins, right? That's 220 right there.
