It's not coming out because the WiiU isn't selling so they're gonna port it to the 3DS & Wii only

The latest news is from E3 where Square Enix announced that it is also coming to Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. No date as of yet though.. Would problably be out already if it hadnt been for the poor Wii U sales, as also was the case with Rayman Legends. I would guess that it will be released in the late summer/early fall when they have finished work on all versions of the game.

That I knew about, but at least for Rayman they gave a new release date. At least they said they were pushing back release for multiplatform.

I've seen a few release dates but hasn't any statement by Square Enix been official issued? It seems as if the game is dead media-wise while it was kind of the sensation months ago when it was announced.

Right in time with the big Nintendo games... And that's how they expect my money... :/

Because they assume that Nintendo Fans would not buy some Nintendo games for theirs to you know support third parties on the system. They won't and than the Wii U will end up in a postion similar to the Wii which is the fault of both Nintendo and Third parties.

WAT!

Sensation? Dont know about that.

However still weird that its taking so long. It always felt like the kind of game that would be rushed out for the Wii U because it could get interest in the absence of other games (and also being a several year old game it wouldnt really cost that much to produce) .. But now.. working on versions for the other consoles as well - as if they would be interested with Human Revolution having been out for so many years and also costs like.. 2 gbp.. and going up against the games in the fall?

Thats just unclever. Would be smarter to just cancel it entirely. Business wise.

I agree, by now the game should have been just cancelled.

Here is my point, rather similarly to the Rayman Legends affair. When you see the video I posted in the OP, you see the passion that the developers had for taking advantage of the Wii U to create the ultimate edition of their game. They were truly passionate about what the Wii U allowed them to do to their game. This is a game PS360 players had already enjoy and, iirc, could get for free on the PS+ or for next to nothing on Amazon, yet the developers saw in the Wii U a way to perfect it; and even business-wise this was a way to bring their game and franchise to an entirely new audience, no matter what size it was back then. Heck, one of the developers even claimed that maybe they could "save" the Wii U.

That was in the beginning of April. There were rumors for the port by Straight Right since October 2012, before the release of the Wii U, that are now confirmed.

Two months after the announcement, at E3, it's multiplatform.

Now, prove me if I'm wrong, the video praising the Wii U is no longer hosted by Square Enix's own Youtube channel.

Just like Rayman Legends, they could have finished and released the game during the Wii U drought and captivate Wii U owners desperately yearning for games and have established new fans — the way Call of Duty did, with Activision now releasing Call of Duty Ghosts on Wii U and taking advantage of being the only big shooter on the U this holiday season. But instead, they screw the potential fans who otherwise couldn't have cared less about the game (since the franchise has never been released on a Nintendo platform), making them wait for the multiplatform release of a game that could have been released during the drought period, which leads SE to:

1) on the Wii U, face Nintendo's first-party releases and the odd brand-new multiplatform games,
2) on the Playstation and Xbox side of things, not only face the big fall releases on those platforms (GTA V, you name it), but even face disinterest amid the release of the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Now, in all seriousness, even from a sales standpoint, wouldn't it be better for the game to have released sooner and to have stayed a Wii U exclusive? Better a hungry low install base or a disinterested huge install base? Better new fans of the franchise for future entries or selling an update to the current fanbase?

Since we all know that with its current strategy the game is meant to fail, I really want to know your opinions on what should have been the best measures.

For companies to stop wasting time and resources porting old games from the PS3/360 to the Wii U.

Exactly. Unfortunately for the developers, they couldn't help but want to make their game a better game.

@DePapier Why cancel when Square Enix has already made a Wii U version, though? If the game is finished, they'll make more cash just putting a sparse few copies out there than if they didn't at all. Even if the game only sells 5,000 units (which I doubt will be that low) they'd still make more money than just not putting the discs out there.

Also, I doubt many of the people buying Mario, Donkey Kong, or Wii Fit U will be interested in getting Deus Ex. I think there will be some semblance of impact from Nintendo titles, but there's enough people that will pick this up that Square Enix might as well just release it.

As for what course of action should have been made, well, there are some factors that favor the Wii U release getting delayed. This way, advertising for the re-release can be done at just one time, rather than twice. Plus, hype won't dwindle down for the release of the other versions of the game. I don't know if it was the best for the Wii U version, but there's a good chance that it's best for the game as a whole. SE has financial advisers after all, and I doubt anyone in this forum actually has any expertise in that field.

Oh, and I second the recommendation of this game to any Wii U owners. It's one of my favorite games of 2011, and I'm buying this game again on the Wii U if it's $30, just because of the new features and the DLC included. It's fantastic.

I don't see your logic, HR is a game just like Mario and DK, why would people who buy one sort of game be less inclined to purchase another sort of game short of not having the platform to play it on. I've got HR on PC (and finished it, can't compare to the original)and am planning to get DK and Wii Fit U and I play every sort of game genre.

I think it's awesome WiiU is getting this, but I won't be rebuying it. I got this game at launch and played through it on the Xbox 360. (It was the first game I played when we moved into our new house and got the surround sound setup properly) and it was quite the experience. I'd rather not play it again though. But for those who haven't played this game, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
