So, does anyone think Nintendo will be supporting any light-gun games in the VC line-up? There are so many games for the NES, SNES, SMS, and MD/Genesis that used this tech... Most of them classics...
Super Scope 6 was one of my favorite SNES games, mostly for Mole Patrol, though the others were pretty good, too. I unfortunately don't think it'll happen though since there is a Tetris game included in it.
As for your question, do I think light gun games will begin seeing support? I kindly doubt it. I don't see why they'd have held off on it for so long if so. Duck Hunt would have been the most obvious Day One release for VC.
There's already Operation Wolf, but they didn't support using the wiimote as a lightgun, which is kind of stupid. Must have to change the game to make it work with the wiimote that way. If they can't do it yet, then they should wait until they can. It's just lame playing these types of games without a gun, especialky when we have the Wiimote.
Anyway, I'd love it if they put out the arcade duckhunt, where you could shoot the smart alec dog. Heh, heh.

Well, Namco has two on-rails space shooters out for the VCA in Japan, Solvalou and Starblade and both of them use the IR to move the pointer; works quite well, so yeah, I'd imagine the publisher would have to rework the code (both of those games used flight yokes rather than lightguns, so it would have been more work I'd imagine), but clearly it's possible.
Maybe a game has to be recoded to work with the wiimote in that way and they think it's too much trouble to do this. I wouldn't give up hope though, maybe it will happen or maybe they'll redo some and bring them out on wiiware.
@Sean - I just saw what you wrote after I posted this. By the way. What's VCA? A Virtual console category?
Yeah, even though I would like the original Duck Hunt with IR shooting...I think that it would be just as cool to get a revamped WiiWare Duck Hunt with updated graphics, maybe a few different modes/minigames or something.
I'd love to be able to play Duck hunt again ,a few months ago I got out the old NES and tried to play it forgetting that it wont work with the LCD teles. Super scope 6 was the best though, have to agree with Adam, mole patrol was the best.
I would love to see Duck Hunt on the Virtual Console or WiiWare that I could get that massive gem, even it does come out and goes to WiiWare please Nintendo lets have the players shoot the dog when it laughs at you. Please!!!
The WiiMote is just not accurate enough. You need a reticule on the screen so that you have a frame of reference when moving from one target to another. Duck Hunt with a reticule would be lame, and without it you just wouldn't be able to aim very accurately with the remote.
If it's in a shell you can get a good feel for it. Ghost Squad has a no-reticule mode, though I agree without a shell and sitting down rather than standing right in front of a screen I didn't care for it.
