The Bottom of the Well and Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time. Okay, Termina in general was nearly as scary (including that falling moon), but the two places above are just scary as all hell, especially if you're still a kid when playing the game. Fake walls and objects, invisible traps, Redeads all over the place, Dead Hand in general, blood and acid in every place possible. The fact that this torture chamber type location exists in Hyrule, or the fact Kakariko Village are getting their water supplies from this well make it even worse.

That 100%. I remember taking a real long time beating Ocarina of Time as a kid because of the Redeads, Wallmasters, and Dead Hands. I would play it, stop, then play it again months later to see if I can face them without getting creeped out. As for Majora's Mask, lets just say I got it when it first came out (collector's edition) but I never beat it until it was available to download at Club Nintendo.

A dying animal struggles, thrashes and howls in protest as its life torn from it. To see this in action, watch Animal Planet. The same thing happens when a video game is or isn't released. To see this in action, stay here.

After reading the Metroid: FF Thread, I now know something that did scare me in a Nintendo game: SA-X. Whenever I entered a room and saw it walking away, my heart always skipped a bit. Yikes.

God first.

The redeads in Zelda Ocarina of Time always gets me. Especially when you enter the town square for the first time in the future and the redeads all scream at you. I never found the Bottom of the Well to be that scary, but I've only played the 3DS version which wasn't as bad as the original.

Well, it may not be a "Nintendo" game but it's a "Nintendo console" game.

Browsing JPN 3DS eShop on my import 3DS and notice some anime girl.
Yes, there's lots of anime girls on JP eShop
But this one looked strangely familiar... then I noticed the name and now I remembered...
Grinsia!
Amazing how one game can become so unintentionally scary because of bugs.
Any time you want to make progress... left wondering "is it gonna freeze?" "will it freeze now?"
I heard the last patch fixed that but that point the game had already been traumatizing enough.
(yes, the game does allow saving any time. But you shouldn't have to save every five minutes just as a precaution against the dreaded freeze followed a firmware notice "This game has performed a critical error and will now be closed." or whatever it said.)
I do remember when I first played the game I was dealing a dying wireless network router that kept dropping my Internet connection. At least it was more consistent than this, once downloaded, offline game.

Was gonna say this one. I don't remember what was happening, but it freaked me out and still does to this day
