Of course, if we can mention anything Nintendo, how about the puppets in the beginning of Nintendo's DE '15? Coupled with that castle song and gosh... X(
Perhaps I should elaborate a bit better. The tilting heads, the somewhat lifeless puppet faces, the dark background, and the music. THAT MUSIC! Combine everything together and you have something that freaks me out.

Starts at 0:37 and ends at 1:40. It starts to get real scary at 1:11 and I reach 'freaked out' level at 1:32. X(

Also, that Merry-Go-Round music in Super Mario 64.

Has nobody mentioned the piano yet? I don't think I have to mention which. It's THE piano.

Do you have a personal fear of puppets in general? Because tbh I didn't find that the least bit scary.

And I'm not trying to be all high and mighty about it, it's just that that scene objectively was not supposed to be taken as scary...

On the subject of "things taken as scary when we were little but aren't scary at all now that we're older", when I was a little kid Bowser's laugh that plays at locked doors in Mario 64 scared me so much I ran downstairs and didn't find the courage to come back ip for quite a while, lol. And I wasn't even playing the game!

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

The Killer Piano didn't scare me as much as Bubba the giant fish that swallows you whole did when I was a kid.

@TeeJay: Nah, I'm not scared of puppets. I just think the music takes the whole thing to another level. And the tilting faces; it's like they're staring right into your... erm, soul.
I guess it's just me, then.

And I still hate his stupid mug with a passion (except in Woolly World, because he's a freaking purse in that game and I want one like that)

3-7 will forever be my least favorite stage in Yoshi's Island because of those stupid Lunge Fish.

Also, there were a few places in Metroid Prime 3 where you would open a door and there would be a dead enemy leaning on the other side so as soon as it opened, that was what you saw. Managed to jumpscare me every time it happened.

The Bottom of the Well and Shadow Temple in Ocarina of Time. Okay, Termina in general was nearly as scary (including that falling moon), but the two places above are just scary as all hell, especially if you're still a kid when playing the game. Fake walls and objects, invisible traps, Redeads all over the place, Dead Hand in general, blood and acid in every place possible. The fact that this torture chamber type location exists in Hyrule, or the fact Kakariko Village are getting their water supplies from this well make it even worse.

The Fate of Porky from Mother 3 is simply the most twisted thing in existence. This kid is trapped inside of a physical representation of hell. His body even survives the cold death of the universe after eons of years, and that's only a tiny chapter in his existence. And when he begins to contemplate his fate, what does he do? He rolls around, laughing and singing with glee. How such a twisted, disgusting concept of accepting eternal torment, loneliness, insecurity, boredom, hate, sadness, and guilt, GLADLY of all things, is beyond reasoning and is simply the absolute creepiest thing not only in video games, but FROM ANY HUMAN MIND, PERIOD. And how this game is freaking E-RATED makes absolutely no sense. Not even works like Dante's inferno went this far.

Realizing just how much of a monster i am when i let 90 of my pikmin die from a single bomb rock, not to mention the total casualties of my pikmin just from one playthrough of pikmin 3.

The only thing that's scary in a Nintendo game are the Redeads in WW. As for third party games, the theme that plays in Thanatos' castle in SoM was sure creepy,

@AtomiCartridge I wouldn't go as far as to say Mother 3 was more twisted or creepy than the Inferno, but I do see where you're coming from.

As for me, I'd probably argue that most of Code Name S.T.E.A.M.'s monster designs tie for creepiest thing in a Nintendo game. Yes, they're just Lovecraftian abominations, but that's exactly why they're so creepy.
