Ever since I saw http://didyouknowgaming.com/post/34050830722/the-legend-of-ze... i've come to appreciate Majora's Mask even more than just an emotional game that clearly acknowledges death in it with the grief that comes as a result, more specifically, 5 stages of it.
Clock Town is Denial. All the people refuse to accept that a moon is about to come crashing down on them since it's so astonishing.

Southern Swamp is Anger. The Deku Scrubs get angry that their princess is missing and resort to blame, persecution, and murder on an innocent monkey as to satisfy all their problems.

Snowhead is Bargaining. The Gorons are starving and nearly freeze to death, so they desperately hope that their hero will come back and save them despite the fact that he's dead.

Great Bay is Depression. The Zoras lost their guitarist and mourn for him since they can't get him back, to the point where nothing seems worth it anymore.

Ikana Canyon/The Moon is Acceptance. Since Link has come this far and has no new transformation masks to hide behind anymore. He fully realizes that there is hope, so he tries even when all the others don't.

. Also, the stone tower temple may be a reference to the tower of babel, and other religious customs. And a giant hand is flipping off god.
