Is FSA seriously far better in multiplayer? I don't have four GBAs, let alone four link cables. I've found the Link-switching to be unique and challenging, and the 16-bit graphics have kept me from downloading ALTTP for quite awhile.

The GBA version was called A Link to The Past/Four Swords. I never did get the gamecube one, but GBA link-up is really annoying. They should deffinitely make a new version though. New Play Control FTW!

The limits in FSA are a bit frustrating at times, but at least they're not the same as those in Majora's Mask. That game needed constant saving, whereas the limited saving in FSA is fine considering it comes every time you finish a level.

Maybe they should release a sequel onto the Wii so I can play it using the Classic Controller instead of the clunky Gamecube Controller (doubtful since FSA sold only 250k).
A sequel would be much better suited to DS. You already have two screens, so it'd be pointless to connect to the TV for a third screen. After a certain point, you simply have to say to yourself, "This be too many screens."
In order to play multiplayer, you needed to connect a GBA and this kind of ruins it. Hence poor sales. But I agree that it would be great for DS.

It's good nough in Single player. In fact, there are somethings you can do in the single player that you can't do in multiplayer. At least in singleplayer you don't have to worry about who get what and who goes where...in fact, multiplayer is only good if you have friends whom you can easily coordinate with.
And wasn't there supposed to be a sequel on the DS that got cancelled so they could work on $h!t on a stick, A.K.A. Phantom Hourglass?
Actually, they should just make it a separate mode like they did with A Link To The Past. That way nobody has reason to complain about it being too different or it's lack of innovation The dungeons were different on four swords every time you played. It was a great side-feature if you ever found someone else with the game.

I'd say it's much more fun if you have friends with whom you cannot manage to coordinate. Hilarious chaos.
As I've said in pretty much every thread on this topic (they pop up like clockwork every month or so, it would seem), Four Swords Adventures is easily my favorite multiplayer game of all time. Truly fantastic fun. I keep 4 old GBAs around just for the rare occasion when I can convince a group of friends to give it a go.
I've never really played it in single-player mode.

Single-player is tedious. It takes no great skill or puzzle-solving ability to complete. The whole point of the game is multi-player. The combined cooperative/competitive element is brilliant. Yes, there have been times when a friend and I kept throwing each other down holes for probably fifteen minutes, but that is more a reflection of our character than the game's.
No great skill or puzzle-solving? What? Eh, regardless, I thought it the singleplayer was pretty great. My multiplayer experience consisted of me and my brother arguing over who gets what item, burning eachother with the Fire Rod, steal eachothers' force gems, and throwing eachother off of cliffs repeatedly and steal eachothers' spare Link. More often than not our sessions ended with physical violence.
...of course, that always happens whenever my brother and I play together.
I agree that multiplayer might be a bit chaotic if you don't get the right people. The four Links makes it more challenging, and I like that (provided it's not mind-boggling like Majora's Mask).
