FPS games i've played through: goldeneye, perfect dark, turok 2, doom 3, half life 2, time splitters 2, call of cthulhu, metroid prime- series (which i really don't even count in this category), Quake 4, Far Cry. Can't remember anymore so i guess that's it.
I mean, Halo has like 5 different enemy types, 5 weapons and the enviroments are 75% repetitive, copy-pasted grey corridors. The "scary Covenant" are mainly ape-like little creatures which remind me of some kid's show. The story is just average. I gotta admit that i haven't tested the multiplayer, so i guess that's the reason for the game's hype.

Of those on that list clearly far worse: Turok 2 Doom 3 Quake 4 (and calling Call of Cthulu a FPS is a stretch)
Well I thought Halo-3 was rubbish. I played what I guess was about half way through and gave up. I mean, Jesus, it was so terribly boring, so uninspired, I dont think I enjoyed a single moment of it...
I really enjoyed Turok 2, Doom 3 and Quake 4 a LOT more than Halo. Turok had huge worlds which actually had variety, a great amount of bad-ass weapons, a lot of different types of enemies and fantastic soundtrack (Halo too had good music- in those rare moments the game actually played it). Doom 3 had the atmosphere, which is still pretty freaky today, and also a lot more weapons than Halo. Both games are pretty repetitive. Quake 4 was just brutal and i don't know, it was quite short but i really enjoyed it. Keep in mind that my opinions consider only the single player modes of these games.
It's funny - bad (or even just mediocre) FPS games all kind of blend together in my mind. It's only really enjoyable experiences that stand out as memorable... stuff like the original System Shock or Goldeneye or Metroid Prime. Those games made a lasting impression while everything else just kind of faded away.
If forced to look through some of my collection, the worst game that comes to mind is Geist on Gamecube. It wasn't terrible, but never came close to reaching its potential. In the end I kind of regretted spending the time to finish.
I have to agree about Daikatana. I had it for the N64 but not for long. I took it back to the store and told them it did not work ( even though it did ).

I've played it on multiplayer and it's sitll generic and uninspired.
