Which do you think are better and worth more value for money?

I don't know what kind of comparison this is supposed to be, but iPhone. WiiWare has some awesome stuff that crushes anything the iPhone can offer, but for the most part, iPhone wins. Especially in the "worth more value for money" argument. Angry Birds has over 200 levels for $1.

A more direct comparison would be iPhone to DSiWare. Now admittedly, that would just cause iPhone to dominate more, but still.

iPhone. There is just so much more value and variety. Games tend to also have better prices and many offer tons of content (GTA:CW, Galaxy on Fire 2, Real Racing 2)

Wiiware has its creative masterpieces, but iPhone jut feels more complete. And believe me, I love a lot of my old WiiWare games.

"Better" and "more value" are in the eye of the beholder. One could argue that Mega Man 9 is superior to Metroid Prime Trilogy.

That said, I do believe the iPhone far surpasses WiiWare. One major reason is the catalog. iPhone has something for everyone while WiiWare is decidedly limited. Online FPS games, loads of RPGs, 2D, 2.5D, and 3D platformers, fighting games, board games, even fully featured titles like Super Monkey Ball and Resident Evil. WiiWare, while somewhat diverse, has an awful lot of puzzle games that take up its less than 500 titles (in all regions, if I recall correctly). I enjoy that I can play visual novels on the iPhone. :3

Next, iPhone games have pretty much no limit in size (or at least a much larger cap), allowing for more potential. There's a port of a PS2 title available which is more than 1GB large. While it may be a pain to download for those with slow connections, it's not like you HAVE to purchase that game. There are always alternatives with the iPhone. The same can't be said for WiiWare if you want a solid RPG or an online shooter. I feel sorry for a developer that has to squish their games and compress them multiple times to fit the tight 40MB limit, since some developers will just give up. iPhone games have started to make use of "Game Center", which allows for things like friend lists and achievements. WiiWare...yeah.

tl;dr: iPhone, 'cause it has more content, quality, diversity, unique games, features, often cheaper prices, sales, trials, free games, and less limitations. It has more "crap" games too, but you don't HAVE to play those, do you?

Wiiware because I really don't like I phone controls.

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

I think it's apples and oranges. If we're talking a game that was originally developed on the iPhone and plays better with touch controls then no question I'd get it on iPhone, though since I don't really game on the iPhone it's more likely I just wouldn't buy it at all.

Even DSiWare and iPhone aren't always equivalent. The dual screens make a lot of games on the DS difficult to translate to iPhone and using a stylus gets your fingers out of the way. I will say that after playing Geometry Wars Touch on my iPhone I wouldn't touch the DS version again, but I definitely prefer a d-pad and buttons over simulations on the iPhone, as good as they can be.

Haha, "Apple"s and oranges.

I think the "best" game on WiiWare is probably better than the "best" game on the App Store, but in terms of quantity there's a lot more on the App Store that I like. Nintendo really hurt the service when they decided to set the digital game size limit to 40 MB. They could have Gameloft releasing quality racers and shooters with online multiplayer if it weren't for that restriction; and hell, don't forget Super Meat Boy. Hopefully the 3DS and Wii 2 won't have the same kind of limit, and we'll see some higher profile games on NintyWare.

So yeah, App Store.

WiiWare (and DSiWare for that matter) can't offer up Civilisation Revolution, HD games like Sim City, Crystal Defenders, and many RPGs. iPhone/ Ipad can - because the quality of the screen is higher, and there are no download size limits.

But the real reason I consider the iPad the better of the download services is because of the board games. I'm a big board game fan, and WiiWare/ DSiWare offers none (aside from a glorified snakes and ladders game on WiiWare, which is admittedly good, and Mario Party/ Gameloft clones which are not my kind of thing).

The iPhone/ iPad on the other hand is just about the best ever board game platform - from the classics (Game of Life, Monopoly, Scrabble) to the exciting, more modern eurogames, like Settlers of Catan, Reiner Knizia's games, Puerto Rico on the way etc etc.

The iPad just needs a hex based historical wargame (like the old Avalon Hill games), and it'll just about be my favourite gaming platform of all.

I've got no problem with WiiWare or DSiWare - I have a lot of both, but I will say this - people who actually own iPhones/ iPads quickly realise they're very good games platforms, because once you dig beneath the Angry Birds surface there are a lot of very good, very deep games in the App Store. For that, neither Nintendo platform (heck, PlayStation Network either) can compete.

Ooh, WaltzElf, do you have Carcassone? If so we should play a match.

My favorite WiiWare game is World of Goo, which is also on iPad. It just sucks its not for iPhone. WiiWare does have an extremely low size cap, whih is unfortunate. It really has pulled some games from being as great as they could. Sometimes to the point of devs not even bothering (super meat boy). Hopefully Ninty will fix this in the future with there being more reliance on higher capacity SD card storage making theseow caps unnecessary.

Thanks for reminding me I needed to download that one! Going to now.

Make sure to give me your username. This is imo one of the best board game to videogame port I ever played. E
