I'm a new Steam user and have joined the Nintendolife Group earlier today.

I am interested in playing some online Garry's Mod, Goldeneye: Source and a recently downloaded (thanks to seeing it on the Nintendolife group page) Pirates, Vikings and Knights II and I would very much like to compete against some people I know from this site.

My username is edhe1984, but since I've gone and joined the group anyway, I won't be hard to find.

I would like to discover whether my Internet connection is good enough for an online match.

We should all get on Gmod and play the HL2 campaign with TF2 weapons. It's a hell of a lot of fun.

They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

Just joined the Steam group, I have the same screen name on Steam as I do here. I Play Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Plain Sight, and Team Fortress 2. I usually play the Left 4 Dead games more often then anything else so everyone is welcome to join in (provided the empty slots are there :D)

Edit: I forgot to mention, I also play Street Fighter IV.

So this Steam thing... when I buy a game do I only download it once onto my computer? I ask because I've heard of some kind of thing where the game is kind of "streamed" and I can't really be chipping away at my download limit everytime I want to play a game.

First off...the last post here was in 2010...

But to answer your question, yeah, you only download the game to your computer and you can play most games even in offline mode. There's no streaming as of yet. You're thinking of Onlive.

Thanks, I was thinking of pledging for an upcoming Kickstarter game that is going to be on Steam & it would seem pretty absurd to do so for a game that might only be available on a platform I can't really use.
