I don't think the violence is a problem and in fact a little bit is probably healthy. There is way too much of it though much like everything else. Our world is full of companies trying to make a quick buck and over saturating every market.
Oh god. Oh dear god. Their "largest influence" is Evanescence. That is the most ironically depressing thing I've seen in a long time. Damn The Bleeding Rainbows and their gothic alternative pop trash!
I'd have made our band bubblegum metal. Ukelele is totally accepted. Hellz yeah!
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.
@Adam I can tell just from having replied to you 5 times ever that you are a genuine musical genius. Why didn't I think of bubblegum rap-metal-folk-core?
Also when I think of black dragons, I think of the awesome Black Dragons in the Heroes of Might and Magic series. They pwned everything so hard. <3
We can all agree that it doesn't look like a monkey, though, right? Right?
/me is trying really hard! D:
Also I don't care if I'm off-topic, this is all silly anyways.

Rabbits. Obligatory off-topic randomness post accomplished.
And BTW, @ ummm, i think it was Waltz (too lazy to go back the couple pages, so i apologize if it was someone else), movie theatres are NOT fined if they let an underage viewer into an "R" rated movie. At least not in the US, or rather, not to the extent that any such attempt to enforce such a fine (such as by a state or local government) would not be legally valid if challenged, as it would be in direct opposition to the First Amendment and subsequent rulings regarding same. All ratings systems in the US are purely voluntary, industry-sponsored systems.
It's a good thing I have smart parents who don't let their kids play whatever M rated crap they want. Thankfully for me, I don't like FPS's and I have no interest in GTA!
@the shpydar: Yeah, that was Waltz all right. And you're right, there's no legal fine for children in R-rated movies. To quote the wording of the R rating description:
MPAA wrote:
R- Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
Obviously, that makes it legal for people under 17 to get in. The MPAA is not a government-run organization, and there's not even a law requiring movies to BE rated, hence all the "unrated" DVD and Bluray releases of films nowadays. This is a point of contention which people against the regulation of video game sales are arguing to show that it would be unfair and unconstitutional to pass law over one form of entertainment but not another. And neither would matter anyway because parents continue to be the true enablers in these matters.
My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

"At least not in the US" is the operative phrase, here -- Waltz is in Australia, where 'R' rated movies are 18+ only. it'd be like attempting to escort your kid into an NC-17 or X-rated flick here in the states, a fine would definitely be laid down, lol.

@tbd Nope, still not fine-able. Public outrage-able, politician stump speech-able, but not legally enforceable vis a vis a fine.
At best, there would have to be an attempt to bring an "endangering the welfare of a minor" criminal charge, which wouldn't withstand a legal challenge on First Amendment grounds, with the possible exception (depending on the jurisdiction and circumstances) of showing actual pornography to a minor.
I don't know about Aussie law though, so Waltz may have been right about what goes down ... down under.
Sorry, I forgot that there is an R rating in the US, but it's a different rating to here in Australia.
In Australia we have two restricted categories - MA15+ (which is different to M15+, which is recommended-only) and R18+. If a cinema knowingly allows underage people into either (and they are bound by law to ask for ID), then they can be hit by some substantial fines.
Which is really how it should be for games as well, but for some reason there seems to be no consequence whatsoever for a shop selling an MA15+ game (R18+ games are banned outright and cannot be sold). Technically it's against the law, but retailers feel free to ignore that.
Anyway, point is, there definately needs to be legal restrictions on selling some materials to minors, and this should apply to games as well. The 13 year old can thing he/ she is mature as he/ she likes, but it's irrelevant - he/ she should not have access to 'R' (17 or 18+ movies, games, books) at all.
@shpydar: ah, my mistake then -- i thought the ratings were legally enforceable; we used to see security/police escorting kids out of the movie theater all the time back when i was a young mall-rat, lol, and they were always super-d-baggish about requiring ID if you looked the slightest bit underage. didn't understand why they'd cover their a**es like that if there wouldn't be a fine involved. the rest of my comment still stands, however. :3

So if I go to Australia and play Dead Rising (my latest game), will I get fined, or will the store which I bought the game from will get fined? Because Im only (soon to be) 12.
