I believe Ken Sugimori is a huge SEGA fan. He even did the boxart for SEGA 3D collection in Japan. Keep in mind that Gamefreak is not owned by Nintendo.
Anyway, i'm super curious. Gamefreak is one of my absolute favorite developers, so i'm really excitet to se what this is about.

Consensus in that thread seems to be mobile title. Makes sense. If it was a 3DS game, it seems more likely that GF would partner with Nintendo instead of Sega.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Seriously though, Game Freak and Sega did make two Genesis games together: the famous Pulseman, and the not-so-popular license game Magical Taruruuto-kun (having nothing to do with the games Bandai made based on the same IP for Nintendo consoles).

Something tells me that they aren't making a Genesis game this time.
