Topic: Dragon Quest Is Turning 30 next year

Well I expect another anniversary collection. Perhaps the DS games on 3DS or even VC releases for WiiU. I'm sure a new entry is on the way next year. I just hope it goes to WiiU...

If they announce a 30th anniversary collection to the Wii U, then I'm all about celebrating it. I played the first 3 DQs. They were my introduction to this awesome series. I owned them back when they were called Dragon Warrior. Good Times.

I'm expecting DQXI will be a PS4 game. If NX is a new console for release in 2017 I expect a port to that instead of a Wii U version.

I'm hoping for DQVII (& DQVIIII) getting a western release for 3DS.

@SuperWiiU Heh, I have given up on DQVII leaving Japan (just bought it last week actually) I think VIII has a chance though. It is more recent and the one that a large number of the current 18-35 year old demographic talks about. Although if Squenix wanted to be really nice they could release the monsters games and the last slime mori mori game to the West. Still this is the "Tomb raider was a flop" company so I'm not holding my breath.

Prediction: DQ XI announced at TGS as PS4 exclusive. Coming Fall 2016.

The anniversary wont visit the west, just as the series hasn't for the past few years.

They didn't have any details, though. We'll probably hear more this September at the Tokyo Game Show, though. There were two details: Release next year and on console(s).

I don't think they really even specified any other time frame than they wanted it to be released by the 30th Anniversay next year. That din't quite mean next year, and knowing Japan, it could be that they want it out by this holiday season...who knows. I guess we'll have to wait until whenever the "near future" is...

I still remember getting my copy of Dragon Warrior for free from subscribing to Nintendo Power. I didn't even know about it till one day a package was in my mailbox imagine my surprise when it was a video game. Are those available on the 3DS or Wii VC?

No. Japan got the NES and SNES 1-3 on a Wii disc, but nothing in the west.

Yeah. That's probably gonna happen.

I don't get it.....nearly every dragon quest game that I've checked on has been released to the west. So what are the games that are only left out in Japan?

That said, I've never played a Dragon Quest game before and I'm tempted to try one game out. Maybe Cursed King might be but that game's too long compared to the others......so....idk.

Basically we've been confirmed as getting one out of the nine last released/announced DQ games, and it's the Dynasty Warriors spinoff for PS4.

I thought I had a copy of Joker 2 Professional sitting on my shelf but no, just the amateur version.

You forgot about the first Rocket Slime, for the GBA.
And the GBA Monsters game, Caravan Heart.

3ds rocket slime is the third one in the series.

Played DQIV on my tablet earlier this year and it was absolutely fantastic (my first in the series). Was also playing DQV (and having a blast), and was about to undergo the last phase of the game as I had opened the path to the underworld, but for some reason it won't go past the "authenticating licence" page anymore (this is the same for all SE games I have on my tablet, which also includes FFIV). Hopefully they get things working again...

But the second one in the series was the first to be localised over here, and was called "DQ Heroes: Rocket Slime", therefore had the 3DS one been localised here, it would be called "DQ Heroes: Rocket Slime 2".

Also, yes, in my post I only noted the last 9 DQ games that have been released. There was also a drought of localisations over here during the GBA era, which included both DQ Monsters: Caravan Heart and the original Rocket Slime game not coming out here, but it was not as big a gap as what we're seeing now.
