It's weird that the op was spamming other threads saying what a bargain the Switch price is for how advance it's tech is just to start another thread saying it needs to be lower it's price.

This thread has such a clickbait title I'm amazed @damo didn't think of it first and use it as a headline for a news story. What gets clicks better than a headline that simply reads "Money" You should try it sometime!
Seriously though video games can be an expensive hobby but when you really look at it (not necessarily thinking Nintendo here, which is kind of a premium brand), gaming can be one of the dirt cheapest hobbies there is. Looking at recent huge PS/XB sales, a $300 console, $ 700 worth of games on sale (excluding the cost of a TV and/or replacement controllers if they break) could buy you a decade of entertainment for $1000. (Divided across the decade, that's $8.30/mo for endless hours of fun.) Ain't nothing else can beat that kind of cost value. Just the pork rinds at happy hour will cost more than that.
@NEStalgia Pretty much. If you need to play EVERYTHING then gaming can be expensive, but if you stick to one platform at a time (especially PC which has insane backwards compatibility), you'll still be much more efficient in terms of money spent for media entertainment. Books and movies have some limited longevity compared to games.
There's also free-to-play games like Fortnite and Warframe where you won't need to spend a penny to play to their fullest potential.
If you get a very good PC to future-proof yourself, that can also double as both a productive machine and a gaming machine.
If you want a completely free hobby though, writing is an excellent one. I like writing almost as much as playing games.
@NEStalgia your pretty much spot on there about value for money.
I own hundreds of games across various platforms retro and current and I have to say I have never been as satisfied with a console as I have been with the Switch. Its a great piece of kit and great value when you consider the hundreds of hours of fun that can be enjoyed solo or in multiplayer in so many of there big titles. I think we all worry about third party support but I really think I could survive with Nintendos first and second party output alone which I think demonstrates my level of satisfaction.
