@StableInvadeel Oh, it didn't last that long actually. Now I'm human again and about to face Sir Jasper together with Sir Hendrik.

@StableInvadeel lol There was a point where I saw a Professorsaurus, or whatever it's called, reading to a bunch of other monsters, and I had a major "Am I the baddie?" moment. Like, these things aren't out to hurt me. Then again, that generally describes a lot of the monsters in this game. They're just enjoying life, and then Hero and his merry gang of sociopaths make the fields run red with blood so he can go up a level or two.

I just launched the main game for the first time after finishing the demo. It prompts me for an update but I'm at a bungalow park with bad internet reception. Is the update important?

@JaxonH

There are a three features removed from the game (DQXI-S). I haven't noticed any more though it is possible.

1. Zooming in the camera and first person mode (outside the photo mode)
2. The crack-shot crossbow target scavenger mini quest series
3. Fun sized forge cool down

My opinions on this:
1. Not really needed and the lower specs of the Switch version would not handle being zoomed all the way out or in.
2. Not sure if this quest's loot is in the Switch port eleswhere. The questline itself is annoying. Not fun. Without a guide you'll never find all the targets without scanning each zone for hours on end. No net loss there.
3. A great improvement. For those who experienced the cooldown on PS4 (there's special requirements for it to appear) you'll be very happy it's gone on Switch. Of cause the developers don't want players to save scum the system to try multiple times to get a perfect craft, but in reality who cares. Let save scumming happen for those who do it. People already save scummed in the casino, so why not here also. Removing frustration from the game like done here is a good thing. A welcome removal.

I might be alone on this, but Sylvando is my favorite character so far. 😅

So I see you like the female characters a lot. That's nice.

DQXI S is such a comfy little game. Gorgeous music, charming characters, pleasant art direction and character designs, fun combat, a sense of humor that constantly has me smiling, even in the middle of random battles, great voice acting... I don't know that this will end up being my favorite Switch JRPG, but I'm really, really enjoying my time with it. I'm liking pretty much every aspect of the game, which wasn't the case with DQ VIII.

That's a better review of the game than what NintendoLife did with their review.
You summed it up perfectly, why everyone who is a fan of turnbased RPGs should try out this game.

Is there a way to zoom in and out on the characters, like in XC2? I find that the camera sometimes is to close to the hero.

No. That was a feature in the PS4 version that has been removed from the Switch port.

@Ralizah haha yes that was my "breaking point" too, after killing most of that particular group and noticing the last one was just there chilling, I felt kinda guilty and decided to leave everyone (not chasing me) alone after that.

@the8thark sheesh please do not post that many times in a row.

Haha, Sylvando's gang have adopted his flamboyant style. They're all darlings now.

Edit: Poor Hendrik and Rab, being forced to dress up as clowns. But the Luminary seems to enjoy his outfit, maybe a little bit too much. 😅

Just beat that ugly red sea monster, so now I'm back at Sniflheim. Love that the people of Sniflheim speaks with a Swedish/Scandinavian accent.

@Quarth I played that part last night and laughed a lot. The Hero got some fancy moves to show lol, but Hendrick doesnt stay behind, just enter the photo mode and put him to dance, i took like one million photos this way

Edit: Anyone can teach me how to mark text as spoiler, thanks in advance.

@Venus_Adept Haha, haven't tried the photo mode yet.

Anyone knows if there's an accessory against petrification?

Edit: Ah, nevermind. Beat that a-hole.

For as amazing as the Switch port of DQ XI is, I was sad to see that it didn't chart for the September NPD report. Granted it released at the tail end of September. Still, to not even chart? Not enough loot boxes or microtransactions perhaps? rolleyes

So I'm on my way to the Fortress of Fear to face Mordegon in what I believe is the final battle. Any advice before going there? Keep it in spoilers please.

Edit: Oh, forgot about Indignus. Glad that Erik got the last strike.

@Quarth You're a bit behind me! I'm deep in post-game now...I won't spoil anything for you! I've been on this game non-stop since I downloaded it. I think if it wasn't for the portability I doubt I would have got so far into it. In fact I'm going to jump back on it now...

Quarth

@WiltonRoots Oh, is the post-game necessary to play? Too many games... 😅

@Quarth I'm sure you can skip it, but I would say it's worth persevering as it's pretty much a whole new adventure but less linear. It's definitely less of a walk in the park too.

@Quarth, post game is essentially the story's 3rd act.

You don't have to do it, but it's a good idea.
