Have been a day one or within a month a two with all home consoles, even imported a Super Famicom over a year before it was launched in the UK. The crappy Wii U launch didn't put me off because I sold my Wii after six months, I really didn't like it, and bought a PS3 which I kept until the Wii U was launched, so I had an massive desire to get back into Nintendo games.
That being said, I may hold off with the NX. The launch titles will be key for me and my Wii & Wii U back catalogue is huge. But something tells me the NX isn't going to be what we expect and I have a feeling I won't buy into it, like what happened with the Wii.

I like how about 75% of people here already have their minds made up on the NX while 25% are saying there isn't enough information. It is true, there isn't enough information about the NX to make an informed decision and those that already have made a decision are basing it off of their own bias (myself included) but i think that goes to show how important support for current console is before the launch of a new one.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

If we used our heads when making purchases we would probably be a lot wealthier.
We use our hearts for games though, so in reality we've all secretly made our minds up.
No, not at launch. I will wait a bit and see how things go. I think it's a good thing to do given the way Wii U was handled. If it becomes full of amiibo/casual stuff definitely not getting. I wish they make me change my mind though with an amazing launch lineup.
doubt it. There are so many games I can get that getting a new console ASAP, especially after how weak Nintendo's last two systems have been in their first 6 or so months, I'd prefer to wait. I'll certainly get it within 1-2 years of its release though (unless it's a huge disaster or something).
Absolutely not, regardless of launch lineup or hardware specs. Nintendo has gotten really very sloppy about polish where first iteration hardware concerned. When the release the "New NX" and there are 15+ fantastic games, I'll consider it.

This, and will I be rebuffed by saying that a lot of people here seem to base their decision on emotional entropy? Just seems a little strange to have a visceral reaction to an as yet unknown console, yet people are impassioned about how Nintendo has been screwing them over. Frankly considering how much effort Nintendo puts in to develop first party games for their console, this attitude is a little surprising.
Nope. But I only know it's a No because I've never bought any system at it's launch and I doubt I ever will, no matter what the system specs are. I buy a system when games are on it I want.
After what Nintendo pulled with the Wii U (a swift price cut with no compensation for early adopters), no way.
For less petty reasons, I evaluated my Wii U games catalogue and came to the stark realisation that I'd played very few new experiences during the console's tenure.
Don't get me wrong, the games are great - Mario Kart 8, Smash 4 etc. It's just...eh. I have these. I have them on GameCube and Wii as well.
Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 are fantastic, and Hyrule Warriors is a Warriors game that isn't dreadful, somehow. And the moment Splatoon is announced for NX, I'm all over it. But that's it for genuinely new experiences on Wii U, from what I can think of. And Bayonetta isn't a new series for many gamers. A good Warriors game though... they said it couldn't be done, but Nintendo/Tecmo, you sure showed them they were merely mostly right!
Anyone who is planning on buying this system simply out of blind loyalty to Nintendo really needs to put more thought into this kind of stuff. You know next to nothing about it, and yet you're willing to say you're going to buy it already? Wow.
If it is a handheld and shows at least some backwards compatibility with the 3DS and eShop, then there's a good chance I'll get it day 1 or within the first few months. I can always find something to play on the go, and it's always great to play on a new system.
If it's a home console...it depends on quite a few things. I'm sure I'll get it eventually, but I won't be in a hurry unless the release line-up is good, or it has some crazy cool feature.

I agree, but to even discuss it at this stage you need to make some assumptions. My assumption is that the next console will be of at least as high of quality as the previous systems I've purchased. In particular, with a handheld I'm confident that the library will more than meet my needs, as Nintendo handhelds have always had a diverse range of games in abundance.
