Topic: Why on earth is Nintendo being so quiet?

@martinskrtel37: again, no. I am not expecting Nintendo to answer every rumor ever. But these rumors pop up so often and take up so many headlines because they are being so quiet. They released a picture of their upcoming releases but a lot has changed since then. There have been recent releases that the most up to date information was from E3. We still don't have an answer about Amiibo Festival being free digitally or not. I have no idea when certain amiibo are releasing because I never see news articles about them. Fatal Frame just kinda appeared, I didn't even get an e-mail about it. If I wasn't actively looking forward to it, it would have passed me by. The latest information I heard about the game was at E3 during 1 section of their Treehouse Event. I have no idea what games are coming in the beginnjng of 2016. After this holiday season all information Nintendo has given me will be vague. We know of a few games but they don't have solid release dates. I still haven't seen single-player footage of Metroid Federation Force, I have no idea when it is releasing too. It could be in Q1 or Q4 2016. You keep claiming they have given us information but I am not seeing it. You might be satisfied by the "information" Nintendo has given you, but there are a lot of us that aren't. There are a lot of us that want more. I can't remember the last time I heard about Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi's Wooly World, or Splatoon.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@Whitewatermoose:
And my response remains largely the same. I think a company the size of Nintendo has a plan and we've already seen some of the pieces moving. The NX announcement, the DeNA thing, the whole bit at E3 where they talked about things they can't yet talk about. It might not work, it might not necessarily be what we want... but they have plans. They always have plans. And more often than not they've done well with their plans.

On the whole Apple bit again, I don't see where you're coming from. I don't see how the new and improved Apple TV changes anything. In the same way that I don't see the new and improved Chromecast changing things. They "do games" but, they don't do games. And Nintendo being on mobile? It's a big deal but I would reserve judgement until we actually see what it is. Odds are that when we see what it is? It will likely be clear that it's the toothpick that sits alongside Nintendo's two pillar strategy. Important? Yes. Industry changing? Probably not.

Oh the apple TV will have an impact alright. I’ll bet you nintendo is watching it. Everybody told me I’m crazy when I told them the iphone would hurt game sales, some years ago. Of course it didn’t hurt sales they get from my end.

I am a gamer.

It doesn’t have an impact yet even though it will. So all of us are still debating what the obvious is showing us: the moment the apple tv becomes reality is the moment a huge chunk of potential customers are going to have their gaming needs fulfilled on a device they already own. And judging by the track record apple has, the ios store will fill up with games and they’ll be competitively priced, to say the least. Then, a handful of gems among a pile of turds will emerge and show the big console manufacturers a hard time.

An ecosystem that has a great user experience is what got apple ahead. As seamless as they get you to download games on your iphone is what got potential gamers to be satisfied with what they have. Whether the tech was there is irrelevant, as always, it's an experience comparison and apple usually nails it. Now, they’ll be a step closer to having a tiny little box that outdoes the others in their own market without even looking.

Hell yes the apple tv is a risk.

Nintendo have ALWAYS said the same things and here's another: we'll show you when we're ready.

amiibo festival, i have no idea and don't care, wait for them to tell us more?

no amiibo news? you have to be kidding me. mewtwo just came out, in my region at least, and i saw tweets and articles about it, enough for a single amiibo. you have to remember the amiibo have been broken down into staggered releases all over the world, so it's up to the publications in your region to cover it, maybe you should hound them.

fatal frame had small build up but it's a small game, what do you want exactly? they did enough to get my attention and make me look it up - and what a weird game it looks.

do you use youtube? perhaps you should subscribe to nintendo's channels, they are quite active, there is a start!

you have no idea what games are coming out in 2016 on nintendo? but you admitted you saw E3 and you saw that picture of all their releases, so really you do know a bunch of game coming out next year. hyrule warriors for 3ds and star fox zero are set for Q1, you can find that out by going to nintendo's website. none of the other games have release dates - that's why you don't know when they're coming out. pretty simple stuff.

yes, Metroid is slated for 2016. it could be Q1, it could be Q4. we don't know yet. spooky.

lol, that's all many of you want, you don't appreciate what you already have. spoiled.

I can't remember the last time I heard about Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi's Wooly World, or Splatoon.

then open your eyes dude!! what a silly thing to say. to actually pick those 3 games which are the ones you hear most about, lol. you must not be looking in the right places, maybe you're expecting release dates to pop up every day on your facebook news feed. honestly this is all the equivalent of two 8 year olds in the back of the car repeatedly yelling "are we there yet?"

@martinskrtel37: You aren't understanding what I am saying at all. I don't care enough to try to make you understand. You have a view of the people asking for information and nothing we say will change your mind.

@erv:
I don't think the Apple TV and iPhone are at all similar. I'll admit that I was a sceptic of the iPhone when it first launched. My criticism was that, especially because of the lack of buttons, it was a jack of all trades but a master of none. Having to turn on the screen to play/pause or skip meant it wasn't as good as a dedicated mp3 player. With a lens that size it would never be able to take pictures as good as a dedicated camera. And without face buttons and a D-Pad it was never going to be as good as a dedicated gaming device. The thing I didn't realise was that those dedicated devices are no good to you if you leave them at home.

The Apple TV isn't even remotely close to being in the same boat. Because quite frankly it is not the sort of device that people are going to get by-default. It's also not going to ever have the advantage of being the only option because you left the dedicated devices at home. When you use the Apple TV you will be at home. If you are into games? You'll probably have a home console anyway because the newest Zelda/Halo/Uncharted isn't coming to the Apple TV.

It's also worth noting that I don't think the Apple TV in itself is a stupid idea. I have an Android box which is effectively the same deal, if I wanted to I could run games on it. It's actually got a pretty decent CPU/GPU for a mobile device. And as an internet connected, video streaming multi-function device it's pretty fantastic. But even so, at no point have I felt the need to run games on it. Why would I bother? It's not like I don't have other options. Hell, it probably even makes more sense to play a game on my phone rather than on that box.
