Hi,i don't like making these threads but this is for anyone who was in my position about upgrading to Windows 7.
I had Windows Vista Home Basic for awhile and it was great. I had no issues with it apart from a few crashes. Also...it was kinda slow....or atleast more slow than Windows 7
So this morning i got Windows 7 Ultimate and i must say,its awesome. You can customise so many things with it! The taskbar looks awesome(although I changed the settings to the old Vista taskbar...i'm much more used to it but the new 7 taskbar still is great!)
People have told me "yes its worth the upgrade"......They were 105% Correct. Windows 7 is,for me much more better than the experience in previous Windows editions. I owned an XP computer and...ugh....so many issues with it. Vista was great! but alil slow and used up too much damn RAM but now Windows 7~PERFECTION.
Verdict:10/10.
This has made my month. Well done Microsoft, while i don't really like the Xbox, you do WIN in the computer department i must say

It costs too much for me and Vista proves perfectly capable on my machine, although I have quite a bit of RAM.

Pointless upgrade like all of them since Windows 95 ........you pay out all that money and what for ?
Yeah i'm sure you would have no problems at all using Windows 95 or 98 in the year 2009 while so many versions have passed and so many drivers are required to use. Games for example. Or some Applications you download.
And btw i'm quite happy with my purchase thank you very much.
Im not saying "OMG BUY IT NOWW!!!!!!" However if i had to choose between my fav OS. XP vs Vista Vs 7. I would so go with Windows 7 to be honest.
@Ramandus No problem mate Just enjoy it when you get your new laptop, its like a whole new start

I never understood why Windows gets bashed alot. I find it to be great. Windows 7 is what Vista should have been although Vista is still great imo. Just Windows 7....has dominated for me.

Not to mention the infamous Blue Screen of Death, which appears often.
Is it infamous because no one has heard of it?

In other words, no. That's not the reason.
Yes but PS3 has YLOD. 360 has so many errors its unreal. Some wiis froze and bricked randomly.
Most electronics like PC's and Consoles have these types of break-downs.
Also i love Windows. lol

And, it's happened, like, 17 times to me since January (as much as I want to say that's a joke, I'm dead serious). Windows just has too many technical problems to be ignored, BSOD isn't the only thing. I've gone to Linux after my whole life with Windblows, and I've never turned back.

@Nintendork: It is likely your actualy computer or bad drivers, not the operating system. This "Blue Screen of Death" means that your system is shutting down to prevent irreversible damage, not that your OS is causing you problems. Early builds of Vista have had problems with a boot error, but who here is running an early build of Vista. That was a red screen, but I digress. It is less likely a fault of Vista than it is actually the hardware or drivers.

It's how the operating system handles certain things. I can't answer your question exactly unless you tell me the exact error codes you got from the BSOD.

Exactly. Windows 7 is more like Vista 1.5 than a completely new OS as MS made massive performance improvements and tweaks to its core.
That said, I still prefer Apple's OS X simply because I find it a lot more user-friendly, although I also have Windows XP installed on a partition for those games I wouldn't be able to play otherwise. Windows 7 doesn't even really come into the equation for me as I only use Windows for games, some of which are older and run better on the older OS.
