Topic: The creativity thread

I have realised, having been here a long time now, that there are lots of very creative people out there on the forums.

Whether that be music, game design, photography, animation, art or writing! There's been threads that have come and gone on the forums, but nothing focused.

With that in mind, I figured making this thread would be worth a shot. If you have something creative to share, share it! Also, discuss projects you have coming, accomplishments etc etc.

Just as a starter example - I downloaded a music studio app on the iPad last night, and after playing with it for a few hours, came up with this: http://www.4shared.com/audio/9faxk0s8/Final_Fantasy_1.html

Pretty basic, but it's a pretty complex app for someone who has had no experience with music studio software (aside from playing with that DSiware music app a little bit), so I'm pretty excited to see how that goes.

Of course as a result of that I didn't do my NaNoWriMo project last night, falling either further behind but I shall pick that up today!

This was made in my Fundamentals of Design class. It's made out of the drink-carriers from fast food restaurants and a foam base and lots of paint.

That is seriously cool.

What was the project topic?

Make something out of drink carriers from restaurants. I love college.

Macro photography is something I've always wanted to take a crack at, but lacked the monies to buy the lens.

Especially like the last one, dude. The colour is seriously impressive!

A couple of my photos:

Quite old now. I don't take nearly as many photos as I should these days.

You dont need money.

I did all of the above photos with a point and shoot kodak. It just takes editing knowledge and a good eye.

Everyone who's working on NaNo should post their writing so far.

I'm a professional game developer and also a long-time hobbyist. I've been solo developing my own game for about a month on and off. I've recently decided I want to enter a master's course, so I've been focusing on my uni application for the past few weeks instead. (Which, interestingly, requires me to submit some creative/analytical writing samples... which I won't be posting here. ) I'll be getting back to my game once my application is done.

Some initial character artwork. I'll clean the animation up later:

And some unrelated music which I made using the DSiWare music app Rytmik, and recently re-recorded for better sound quality:

@GabeGreens Those paintings and photographs are stunning.

@WaltzElf I remember you saying you were a dancer... but are you really just a photographer who attends dances then?

I'm actually planning on writing a story right now, but the thing is I haven't wrote it yet, because I'm horrible when it comes to writing, so as of right now I am actually writing a fiction so that I can improve on my writing by hearing criticism by other people. I haven't upload it yet because I am still writing it, and I wrote this fiction 2 years ago ! and I am halfway of finishing it ! but that's because I had a lot of writers block moments and I was rewriting it to make it better. I hope that I upload it sooner because I have, as of right now, 8 stories to write !

Do games need to be epic ?... or fun ?...

Nah, I just take photos when I'm not dancing.

I've also done photo shoots in the past for my dancing, which is an interesting creative experience, to say the least:

Hey, Mackerel, if you're a game developer, do you happen to know how to work in Ruby? Because I'm hopeless with coding and the like, which really limits what I can do with RPG Maker, but I have some pretty neat ideas

HolyMackerel

@Waltz Oh god, RPG Maker. I used RM2K years ago. I know a lot of programming languages but Ruby is not one of them. Well, apparently it's quite easy to learn if you already have programming experience... I'm assuming you don't though. RPG Maker is still pretty powerful even if you don't use its scripting language, right?

Only if you want to make a direct clone of Dragon Quest.

Anything creative or original requires you to mess around with Ruby. And I have no patience for coding, lol.

HolyMackerel

Well unfortunately I don't have the time to help out with hobby projects. Not to be mean, but "pretty neat ideas" are a dime a dozen on the internet. Good luck with it though.

I love this thread idea. Thinking about posting a couple short writings that I`ve done.

Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.
