Topic: The Best Ebeneezer Scrooge?

Who do you think is the best Ebeneezer Scrooge of all time in the various Christmas Carol movies?

I still think George C. Scott was by far the best, but Michael Caine in The Muppet Christmas Carol was very good too. Anyone else?

Alastair Sim without a doubt. His version has become the general image of Scrooge that everyone seemingly attempts to copy when they play the character. His heel face turn was awesome and he was a complete 180 at the end of the film than he was at the beginning, just like the character is supposed to, but he made you feel at the beginning Alastair Sim was an ass in real life and a great guy at the climax. He just seemed to be born for the role.

(If you don't know which version I mean, I'm talking about the classic 1951 version I think called "Scrooge" in the rest of the world and uses the regular "A Christmas Carol" in the US.)

The one in the CGi animated version with Jim Carrey was pretty good. Also like Scrooge Mc duck from Mickey's Christmas Carol. Oh and the movie with Bill Murray called Scrooged had a cynical smart assed kinda take on the character. Always a classic holiday favorite.

I probably shouldn't say Billy Murray as Frank Cross in scrooged because he is technically not Ebeneezer Scrooge, but I will say Bill Murray.

The character who was born to play the role but didn't until 36 years after his creation: Scrooge McDuck!!

Yeah he's not really Scrooge but it's the same basic Idea. A grumpy guy who hates Christmas not unlike the Grinch.

And he gets visited by three spirits. He is Scrooge (in essence)

I personally liked Patrick Stewart as Scrooge.

Yes, Patrick Stewart was absolutely brilliant as Scrooge.

I liked Michael Caine too, love that Muppets version.

I liked Blackadder's Christmas Carol
Ebenezer Blackadder (Rowan Atkinson) starts as the nicest man is visited by the spirit of Christmas and learns "Bad guys have all the fun."
He wakes up a different man: bitter, vengeful, greedy for money, and insulting to everyone he meets.

I liked Patrick Stewart's Scrooge, but I kept waiting for him to beam up to the enterprise.

Rowan Atkinson is the best scrooge.
