I apologize if this is the 4567th time someone's asked this, forgive me I'm not that updated with the site. Anyways,
I know Nintendo is unpredictable at this point, but like I've seen so much buzz about Zelda's upcoming 35th anniversary like an all stars collection, BOTW 2 announcement, Remake of OoT, and other crazy stuff.
Like what are your "realistic expectations" for Zelda's Anniversary this year?
For me, I absolutely believe that we would get info or update on BOTW 2 and maybe they'll do a Skyward Sword HD? Like I'm betting they'll pull a Mario 3D World thing with this one and merchandising.
Zelda All Stars, I really want it to happen though it's just too good to be true like I'm guessing they did so much with mario last year they'll take it slow and easy for zelda this year like 1 re-release and update on BOTW 2.
I realistically expect nothing because Nintendo is very unpredictable with this kind of thing. Some franchises have anniversaries come and go and Nintendo never says or does anything. Sometimes they do a little to make it noteworthy, and other times they go all out. Mario is realistically the only one I ever expect to have something happen when a milestone comes up.
However, if Nintendo does anything for Zeldas anniversary, I would think it'll be along the line of what Marios was. Maybe a collection of OoT, WW and TP (I have the feeling MM would be left out for arbitrary reasons). I wouldn't expect anything like a new game or anything so grand. The biggest I think they'd go would be an HD remaster of SS.
I think any combination of the above ideas could happen, but my guess is Zelda 3D All Stars with Ocarina of Time (emulated but HD, like SM64), Wind Waker HD (ported from Wii U) and Twilight Princess HD (ported from Wii U).
Zelda 35 - Free limited time NSO release like SMB 35 (March 2021)
Zelda 3D All Stars $60 limited time release - Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Skyward Sword (March 2021)
Wind Waker HD $60 release (June 2021)
Twilight Princess HD $60 release (September 2021)
BotW 2 (March 2022)
Skyward Sword would definitely be stand alone re-release. No way would they remaster it to sell it as a bundle with other games. Zelda 3D All Stars would likely be OOT, OOT Master Quest and Majora’s Mask.
I feel like a trailer on BOTW 2 probably will happen. Other than that, I have no real expectations. I'm hoping for a brand new 2D Zelda game, since it's been a while since we've had one, but I'm not holding my breath for it.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
My expectation is a single Zelda port (Either WWHD and/or TPHD by Tantalus, OoTHD and/or MM HD by Grezzo, or semi-emulated Skyward Sword by NERD). No BOTW2, the NSO game that replaces Mario 35 won't be Zelda related (at least not directly, I'm thinking more of an NES Remix successor)
Oh and a new book will be released, probably a dedicated book on BotW / AOC / some small BotW2 content.
But my 2nd best guess is a 2 for 1 Wind Waker + Twilight Princess HD collection, Skyward Sword HD on its own (maybe with more content (I hope not, Skyward Sword is too long for its own good)) and BOTW 2 somewhere between November and March of next year. Also some similar updates to current games and merch that the Mario Anniversary had.
Man it's really hard to say what'll happen. It could be a 2 pack of OoT/MM or WW/TP and a mix of those with 3 games like others have said. I still firmly Believe SS is getting the HD remaster treatment since it hasn't been done yet like WW and TP( and OoT/MM if you count the remastered 3d versions for the 3ds).
But, who's to say they wouldn't do some of the handheld zeldas in an Allstars compilation? OoA/OoS, Minish Cap all in one package or a mix of the home console games and handheld games.
Really none of us know what they'll do. But, it's still fun to speculate. And honestly, I don't see a scenario I'd be upset with as long as there IS a zelda compilation this year and a remaster of SS + botw 2 release date that's early 2020 at the latest
I would like to see a collection of the gameboy zeldas, I collection with the oracle games and Minish Cap would be awesome.
The Two DS games would also be welcome on switch but would require an overhaul as both PH and ST were touch screen controlled.
At a minimum, I expect a WW / TP double pack, since they both had already been HD-ified for Wii U. If we get SS it'll be as an individual $60 release. The other hope is an updated port of Four Swords Adventures with online multiplayer. And the hail mary, big dream hope would be a proper OoS & OoA remake.
I'm curious as to what developer Grezzo has been up to since the Link's Awakening remake went gold?
Switch Physical Collection - 1,252 games (as of April 30th, 2024)

I don't see them being bundled, rather individual $60 retail releases because the HD remasters were Wii U releases. Sure Nintendo has done extra stuff for some of the Wii U ports but none of them have been lengthy additions.
Even Bowser's Fury I wouldn't be surprised if it's like 1-2 hours.
Zelda Switch and BoTW 2 release. Possibly a f4f statue that I’ll have to sell a kidney for.
