@ Terra I'd have to disagree with you there on Warcraft. I've only played Warcraft III but the campaign was amazing and the customizability of Bnet kept me playing for well over 1000 hours. I only stopped when I got Frozen Throne and every online map was DOTA, and was bored by the campaign. The skirmish in that game is bad, though, I'll give you that. And I'm going to throw in a vote for Half-Life.
Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, GTA, No More Heroes, and almost anything with Final Fantasy. Mario 64 and Sunshine. I couldn't get into them. Sunshine I liked better but I trudged through the same levels way too many times.

I think it's time to point out that Pokemon isn't overrated because the term overrated means that people rave about it in the first place. Many reviewers complained about it being stale.
@Kim Jong-II: If it wasn't for the threat of nuclear Armageddon, I would get very angry with you for even mentioning Half-Life. It was way ahead of it's time, and paved for the way pretty much every FPS out there. Bad dictator, BAD!
Well I have plenty of games that are popular that I think are overrated and they are: All EA Sports Games (Except Tiger Woods, NBA Street, and Grand Slam Tennis) The Sims Dance Dance Revolution Gears of War (Why does everone think that using a lancer automatically makes the game good?) Pokemon Rock Band (Guitar Hero was first and better in my opinion) World of Warcraft (I like the Warcraft games, but not WoW) Halo ( I actually like it, but Halo is not the god of video games) Duke Nukem (Could anyone even still hope for Forever?) Forza Motorsprot Sonic (Apparently some people like the new Sonic games!) Gran Turismo TMNT (Two Games don't make the sereis good!!!!!!)

I doubt anyone thinks the Lancer alone makes the game good. It is a cool weapon, though, and the most visable signatures of the series. Whenever people tend to talk about it whenever they talk about GOW.

Halo and even though it's a cool game, Kingdom Hearts is overated. And actually I think Pokemon is underated because most people think of it as just a kids game for grade schoolers. If you really think about it Pokemon games give you freedom because of all the characters you can choose from.
GTA is overrated because it's the same game and every time it comes out the reviewers say it's a 10, and it's not. I remember loving 3 because that deserved the praise, then moved to Vice City and after a day said, "Well, no use playing this anymore because it's 3.1". I stayed away from the San Andreas FOR YEARS because I knew, despite what reviewers and friends said, it was going to be the same until I finally gaved and played it. Made it half way through waiting for that 'something new and great' but nope, IT'S THE SAME EXACT GAME AS 3!!! I think the backlash finally hit with 4 and well deserved.
That's why it's overrated in my book, it's constantly praised and glorified as a great series when it has done nothing since 3 to change or evolve. it's all the same...kill, kill, kill, race, kill, kill, kill, grafitti (maybe), kill, kill, kill, race...on and on again...BTW, I have zero issues with the violence, I have issues with how absolutely mundane the game is and how it refuses to take advantage of the environment they've built around it.
I doubt many would agree but I think Soul Caliber is way over rated, it was great playing it on the DC, but I feel the series never really improved in any meaningful way since.
