My neighbour has the Japanese version of White 2, and it's completed so I might as well go see all the after game features like the BW Memory link.
Ask him how the secondary mode works, if you actually do start the story over. Well, seeing how its White, I kinda doubt he would want to play "easy" mode, lol.
When you beat Iris it shows the screen of the difficulty mode as it shows a key unlocking what it seems to be it, and then it proceeds to the credits once she is beaten. Assist mode makes the game easier if you have W2 and can give the key to a B2 player, and if you give the Challenge mode key to a W2 player it's vice versa.
If you get challenge/assist mode and you reset the game, you can't get it back and you'll have to beat the game again just to get it. Once you get challenge/assist mode though, you continue your file, it's only your opponents that are changed to be a "challenge" and you can always turn the mode off. So don't worry, you won't lose your save unless you delete your save file. (e.g. from the title screen).
But does it start the story over though? You know, going through it all again with all your Pokemon and whatnot.
If you mean start from the beginning then it doesn't. However if you send challenge/assist mode over to another BW2 game card, then restart (you'll lose it then) and then send it to back to same game card it will make the game difficult/easy from the beginning towards the champion battle at the end.
Can't decide which version to get because of the difficulty thing :/
... The answer is Black 2.
Agreed. If you're a hardcore Pokemon fan, why would playing the game easier a 2nd time be any fun?
I totally agree, but the Pokemon creator dude said it's better to get White 2 if you played White 1. I could dig it up but it's on Game Freak's site somewhere in Japanese.
My god... Nintendo are a bunch of mad geniuses! Now I'm going to have to get both versions eventually! >:[ That really sucks. Huge disappointment. T.T
You're right. What's the point then!? Oh we'll, I'm still looking forward to these games.

Probably because they want you too have both of the legendaries.
I still plan on getting Black 2 even though I got White 1 because I like the Pokemon you can get over the ones in White 2.
Actually it's because White 2 takes place in the same "universe" as White,
The story goes as:
-1's Hero caught the black dragon and they're never seen again.
-N keeps the white dragon
-N's dragon gets merged with kyurem
-2's hero keeps N's dragon and kyurem.
Also, both feature Unova as having more natural areas.
In Black and Black 2 the dragon thing is reversed and places are more industrialized.
Okay..so what is the difficulty thing? We can't use it if we don't have both games? So confused.
Are the exclusive Pokemon from Black - White reversed or kept the same? They switched the legendaries. So for instance, is Braviary still exclusive to White 2? Or is there no exclusives at all in the sequels?

Yes and no.
You can't get it in White 2 by yourself, only Easy Mode. You need someone who has Black 2 and unlocked the Hard Mode so he/she can send it to your game.
It's its, not it's.

Half of that is actually from White 1.
And, what's so spoilery? You can get that much by looking at the cover of the game:
^There you can see that Kyurem and Reshiram are merged, and since it's on the cover that means you can catch it^
Want spoilers? I could tell you other juicier bits of the story.
How did we know that N had the other dragon and it fused with Kyurem? What happened to N? How come we have his dragon?
I thought that you got one of the dragons and then near the end you get an item that lets you merge them.
