Topic: Overrated Games.

Well I loved FF7 anyway, played it through a few times, one of my favourite games in fact, but we can't all be expected to like the same thing.

Twilight Princess
Mario 64

Halo had better controls than any FPS's preceding it.
It also had HUGE levels rendered beautifully, a good atmosphere, good music, was rather challenging in some parts, and was just an all-around fantastic game. Then you move on to college and the experience only gets even better with nightly 12-man CTFs.
There's no way anyone saying Halo is overrated actually played it when it came out.
Now, the Halo series is probably overrated. The original was so good that all the sequels could do is try to paste in new content - and in my opinion, all the rest came out inferior to the original.

And Goldeneye was overrated. I'll take the vastly superior Turok 2, thank you. Though both games had pretty shoddy controls.

In my opinion, Castlevania I & III are overrated. They're too linear and imo rather boring. Again, I'll take the vastly superior Zelda II or Faxanadu or even Battle of Olympus.

Metroid Prime 3 was not overrated. It was easily the best Metroid Prime game yet... until Metroid Prime Trilogy (or the individual NPC games where released). With the NPC, Metroid Prime is easily the best of the bunch. For me, the GC controls ruined the first Prime.

And I never did like Mario Kart 64 nearly as much as Super Mario Kart.

I would say Twilight Princess, but a lot of people share the opinion that it's the worst console Zelda to date. So I guess it can't really be that overrated, eh?

You know, I'm a pretty fair minded guy, and I respect everyone's opinion, but this is pretty much the ramblings of an insane person.

Halo not overrated? Turok 2 'vastly superior' to Goldeneye? Haha.

Perfect Dark was the king of FPSs. If Perfect Dark was on the PC or Wii, I would buy it, but after not playing dual analogue for a few years, I cannot get back into it. I watch videos of someone playing a console shooter and I go like "this guy sucks". I thought some of the shooters on PS2 had bad dual analogue controls, but now I realize they are all bad.

Everything Nintendo has ever made is overrated. It's all an uninspired mess with a bunch of yahoos for fans. F-Zero X, however, is the exception to the rule.

Do we see a pattern here all those are super popular franchise so there for there overated. All of those games you can say all you do is repeat the same things over and the story isnt good or non existent. But thier not thes e are just five of the best and since good that why people like them.

Now whats overated are poorly animated 80's cartoons(G.I. Joe,Thundercats,Voltron,He-man,etc

Other than the fans being yahoos, every console's fan base has that, he is right. Why would someone ban him for giving an opinion?

I don't think you read the thread title. Overrated ganes. I can understand Sonic and Halo, but to call any other series overrated is crazy.

Sonic games, as well as Castlevania games, have great narratives. Mario certainly doesn't, and neither does Halo. Zelda has one, but it's so cliched I can't say I care.

Half of the game -- the game spans 3 discs. I was on the middle of the second disc. Probably about 30 hours of playtime. I think I played enough to make an informed opinion.

And obviously if you're not a highschooler than my original comment doesn't apply to you, so yeah stop acting like I insulted you and move on dude.

I'm genuinely curious: which Sonic games do you think have great narratives?

Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, and Sonic '06 (despite its deplorable voice acting). I can already tell by your wording that you are a Nintendo fanatic, so I won't bother engaging in a conversation about this with you. But just for the record, Mario is only fun to play. Everything other aspect (from the recycled voice overs, to the repetitious storytelling) of it is of the lowest quality imaginable.

i don't they are either but i was saying how most people only call other games overrated if they havent played them or because their popular. 360 fanboys are thebiggest offenders to this with nintendo franchises.

Sonic isnt overrated because its really universally hated. sonic 1-3 and sonic & knuckles are the best games in the series and this is coming from someone who didnt play them till about 2006 after played the 3D ones.

Halo, it's an okay series but its just another FPS. it was just there because the Xbox had not much else to play. then again, different people have different tastes. a lot of people overrate it because they just like shooters, even if theres a whole lot more to play.

Yes, Mario narratives suck. And I agree that Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes had pretty good storylines. Sonic Rush's was okay. Haven't played the rest; I just know their plots generally haven't been very well received. And yeah, I'm a Nintendo fanatic. This site is, after, called Nintendo Life.
