Topic: Nintendo Of America President Says Nintendo Can Never Seem To Satisfy Fans

Because they don't even try, everyone was so mad that there was no AC news at E3 and they had their press event yesterday and they still gave us nothing people at least wanted some news even just a bit of news. People were expecting a dual analog 3DS and they just gave us a jumbo 3DS. Why are fans never satisfied? because Nintendo doesn't even listen to us, they just pop out a Mario game and apparently that's all we need. As of late NOA has been terrible, so yeah we're not satisfied.

Of course they didn't. But that doesn't take away the fact that they had to buy a 3DS, to play the game that Nintendo knew the installed user base wanted...

Except no one complained, as that's what Game Companies are SUPPOSED to do. Put the games people want on the systems that they want people to play on. If Nintendo left these games to the old hardware, they wouldn't make money with their new systems. I don't see why this is an issue to people. Nintendo is a company that wants and needs money.

....Also, was there a large Kid Icarus fan base? I thought it was very very minute...

Moral of the story: Gamers today are a whiney lot, who are never satisfied and always want everything right away. And then when they do get what they want they complain anyway.

FINALLY! Reggie is telling the fans to SHUT UP AND BE HAPPY FOR ONCE. Everything he said was true, and just because they mentioned one thing and not another, you don't need to whine, because you still got a fantastic game. Now if only the fans can be quiet about Project Zero...

Exactly...no-one complained...so Reggie should be careful about what he says about his customers... And from what I remember, Nintendo fans were asking for Kid Icarus long before the 3DS was announced, so I don't buy the argument that this was the system the fans wanted it on...how many young kids are unable to play the game because they still have the original DS? How many parents were pestered into buying a 3DS?

You wanted bigger screens you got it. People complained about gloss, we got matte, no they say matte looks like a toy. 2 3DS VC a week... we got a couple more 3DS games coming.

I can't complain about any of this because this is a lot of stuff coming at us. So Nintendo was right they couldn't show off everything at E3. E3 gets smaller ever year. Nintendo Direct is a better and bigger way for Nintendo to show their stuff at a time they want, I say screw E3.

As far as Kid Icarus: Uprising goes, I believe it is a great game with high replay value. Couldn't have asked for much more with that game. But it was wise to release it on the 3DS as they were trying to grow the hardware base, and if you haven't noticed, the Wii has been dead for the last 2 years, so it makes no sense to put a game on a system that is getting little to no play across the globe. I will say I was on the fence to purchase it at first, but with NO games coming out for the Wii or 3DS, I gave in and it was well worth it.

Now, Nintendo does have many successful franchises of games. But they simply do not have the game developers needed to kick out a new game every year from every franchise. Look at the games that come out every year (The Call of Duty's or sports games): How much changes in their game play year to year? Not much, hence there is not a need to get the game every year. I personally would not want a new Zelda or Metroid every year or two. I fine with the gap. And for the those that love Star Fox or F-Zero, take a look at those sales numbers again. Star Fox was at 2.99 Million and F-Zero at 2.85 million sold on the SNES, While Star Fox 64 sold 4.03 million and F-Zero X sold 1.03 million on the N64. The installments on Gamecube say Star Fox: Assault sell 1.08 while F-Zero GX sold .65 million. These numbers are simply low. You are more likely to see iterations of these titles at the middle or end of a consoles life cycle to take advantage of the installed user base, not at the beginning of the console's life.

I really don't understand why customers are looking at this from the business perspective. Of course it makes sense to release a game that people want on a new system, in the hope that it will help sell that system

But from a customer point of view...if I had been one of those people who were asking for Kid Icarus, and I already owned a Wii and DS, I would have been fuming when Nintendo announced it was being released with a new handheld.

Nintendo knew this game was wanted, and they took full advantage of that fact, in my view, in a morally unacceptable way. It amazes me that no-one did shout about it at the time

Agreed. If only everyone out there could understand it. ND is the new E3.

No one complained about THAT because THAT WASN'T AN ISSUE!
Kids who can't play Kid Icarus due to lack of 3DS aren't fans because 1) They haven't played the game CUZ THEY'RE KIDS and 2) They Haven't played the new one. Why Don't you cry fowl that Halo 3 was released on different hardware than Halo 2? This is A Non-Issue. Fans aren't complaining because it's not an issue. The industry has been putting games people want on systems they want to sell since the birth of the industry.

What the fans are complaint about here, is Nintendo not giving them everything they want. (Like some spoiled children.)
NoA neglects Fire Emblem? Fans Uproar. NoA talks about FE, fans uproar over lack of Animal Crossing.
Fans want Mario as a Launch Title? Nintendo does it, and fans complain and ask for more.

Reggie is talking about the hypocritical and unreasonable complaints of fans, which for every company seems to be an issue. Fans will always complain.

It's dead because Nintendo aren't putting out the games, there's 60 million Wii's out there. I'm sure a lot of those people would be happy to play Pikmin

Iwhy cant they address it all. Seeing as animal crossing should be out before fire emblem.

See no problem with complaining about a company that seems to be all over the place.

I ask for a few things from Nintendo. I may not get what I want, but I get blown away by what they give me. Besides, once again, you are saying it like the few GREAT titles that we have heard about coming up on 3DS and for the upcoming Wii U are the ONLY GAMES EVER COMING OUT EVER. We WILL get the new Starfox someday. We WILL get a new Metroid (Prime hopefully) someday. We WILL get Animal Crossing. Just. Be. Patient. If you base a system only on it's launch or get upset because you didn't get ONE game you asked for when at least a DOZEN are on the way, then YOU will miss out later.

Besides, after the wait, the end product is almost always worth it.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

In america Animal corssing will probably hot first. Animal crossing is near done and for the crossing games translation is usually done concurrent with the Japanese version. While fire emblem.is probably havent stared translation or voice work yet.
