Yet NoA talks about FE rather than Animal Crossing. But of course that's because Nintendo is made of complete morons, and not because of any release order plans, right?

Nintendo need to give people reasons to buy their new consoles. If there weren't fan pleasing games on new consoles, then people wouldn't have a reason to buy them and they would complain that there are no good games for the new consoles. What would be the point in there being new consoles if there weren't reasons for people to get them?

@Tim_Slim You've got it all wrong about Kid Icarus Uprising. You really should read this: http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/kidicarus/0/5

Basically, Iwata asks Sakurai to develop a game for the new hardware, 3DS. Sakurai comes up with the gameplay system and then applies the Kid Icarus characters and world to the game.

Don't you get it, Nintendo is a console maker. They make great new games for their new systems in order to sell consoles and games and to make a profit, the reason every company is in business. KIU was made from the ground up at the request and instruction of the president of the company for the new handheld. It's not a fraud or a scheme to wrongfully take your money.

I think everyone agrees now that Nintendo Directs cater more towards our wants than E3 does currently.

From what I've been reading, the big gaming media sites are questioning the importance of E3. Nintendo seems to share the notion that it may not be as necessary as before. But, as you said, it's only been one E3, sonwe should just wait and see.

Except no one complained, as that's what Game Companies are SUPPOSED to do. Put the games people want on the systems that they want people to play on. If Nintendo left these games to the old hardware, they wouldn't make money with their new systems. I don't see why this is an issue to people. Nintendo is a company that wants and needs money.

....Also, was there a large Kid Icarus fan base? I thought it was very very minute...

[/div]

[/div]

Exactly...no-one complained...so Reggie should be careful about what he says about his customers... And from what I remember, Nintendo fans were asking for Kid Icarus long before the 3DS was announced, so I don't buy the argument that this was the system the fans wanted it on...how many young kids are unable to play the game because they still have the original DS? How many parents were pestered into buying a 3DS?

[/div]

No one complained about THAT because THAT WASN'T AN ISSUE!
Kids who can't play Kid Icarus due to lack of 3DS aren't fans because 1) They haven't played the game CUZ THEY'RE KIDS and 2) They Haven't played the new one. Why Don't you cry fowl that Halo 3 was released on different hardware than Halo 2? This is A Non-Issue. Fans aren't complaining because it's not an issue. The industry has been putting games people want on systems they want to sell since the birth of the industry.

What the fans are complaint about here, is Nintendo not giving them everything they want. (Like some spoiled children.)
NoA neglects Fire Emblem? Fans Uproar. NoA talks about FE, fans uproar over lack of Animal Crossing.
Fans want Mario as a Launch Title? Nintendo does it, and fans complain and ask for more.

Reggie is talking about the hypocritical and unreasonable complaints of fans, which for every company seems to be an issue. Fans will always complain.

I'll accept that my point about the kids being unable to play Kid Icarus was an empty point, because they wouldn't have been the fans that were asking for the game in the first place So it was a mistake for me to say that. But I'll stand by my point that, if I had been one of the fans who were asking for it, and then Nintendo announced its release on a new console, when I already had their existing tech, I'd be upset about it.

In response to what you say about Halo...well...firstly, of course Microsoft would release a new Halo with a new console, that should happen, its their Mario, and it's what we get with a new Mario on each and every console....

But...let's say that Halo existed only on the original XBOX and was a retired series (as Kid Icarus was) and the people who had stuck with Microsoft, and had bought into the 360, were asking for a new game...If Microsoft then turned around and said, here's your new Halo..on the XBOX720...would that be ok? Because, from the way I see it, that's what's happened with Kid Icarus, and in some ways, Pikimin too

And I know what Reggie is saying about the complaints, but what I'm saying his customers could be complaining about something more, so he should be careful about his criticisms towards them

for the those that love Star Fox or F-Zero, take a look at those sales numbers again. Star Fox was at 2.99 Million and F-Zero at 2.85 million sold on the SNES, While Star Fox 64 sold 4.03 million and F-Zero X sold 1.03 million on the N64. The installments on Gamecube say Star Fox: Assault sell 1.08 while F-Zero GX sold .65 million.

Soo... maybe you guys should have bought some of those old games if you wanted their sequels so bad.

But did he apply the Kid Icarus characters to the game because he knew people wanted a new Kid Icarus? Why couldn't he have applied the characters to a DS or Wii game...he and Iwata knew the fans wanted one

And I do get it, Nintendo wants to make money and sell systems. But why should that be a reason to make it ok?

There's a key point here...Nintendo knew this game was wanted, and it didn't exist anywhere outside the NES/VC. They knew this before the 3DS was released, so to then answer the fans cries, but make them buy new tech to play the game, seems like highly questionable business tactics to me...

@Tim_Slim I'm sorry you haven't been able to get a 3DS/have decided it's not worthwhile to buy one, but you should be thankful that Nintendo is even releasing games for the DS (and Wii, once Wii U comes out) still. 3 Pokemon games in one year for a system that's dead to the majority of the game industry/community? That's lucky. In fact, those games are only coming out for DS because of the install base, which in my opinion is a missed opportunity to take earlier advantage of the 3DS hardware. Not that I would play Pokemon even if it were on 3DS, but still.

Bottom line: video gaming has moved on from the DS and Wii for the most part, and Nintendo is simply responding to that in the best way they know how.

I'd argue that E3 is more relevant than ever. The gaming media is just angry that because of these companies wantingmore than the hardcore gamer that non gaming stuff is involved. The day after e3 a lot of people were asking me about the wii u and about the xbox because they say it on the news.

But what would people consider reasonable complaints.

I mean I hate the fact the 3ds doesn't have an account system and lacks nfc.

Yes. If there are fans of the series, they are overjoyed that a new game is coming out, regardless if the system is new. If you refuse to support the game because you don't want to buy the system it was made for, then your not really a fan. It's like complaining why Super Mario World wasn't on the NES or why StarFox 64 wasn't on the SNES.

That's really what you think?

I'm not really a fan if I don't want to pay $500 for a new console when the game could be released on the console I've already bought?

The Mario World and Starfox 64 point is invalid, were talking about a retired series. I could play Mario, in one form or another, on the NES...I wouldn't need a SNES...same goes for Star Fox on the SNES, versus the N64
