Heh heh, the system's horrible,IMO, just for the creation of a "game" called Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. Believe me, I've tried it, unfortunately.
So you think the NES is horrible because of the creation of insert some crappy NES game here. Judging an entire console just because of one game is pretty stupid.
The only game that I could even stick with for more than half an hour was Gex. And the port of SF2 had the most sluggish control ever. Even the Samurai Shodown port was sloppy considering the so-called "power" of this piece of sh*t.
The 3DO ain't that bad. it's got a lot of great ports of PC games of the time like Star Control II & Wing Commadner III. It also has the best version of Road Rash. It also has Gex, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Guardian War, Pyramid Intruder (JPN-only), Myst, Return Fire, Need For Speed, Lucienne's Quest, Space Hulk, Captain Quazar, etc. Ignore what Corbie says, he's probably just mad because he sold alot of his games to get a 3DO.

What's so sloppy about the 3DO version of Samurai Shodown? At least the 3DO version is much better than the lame Super NES, Genesis, & Sega CD ports.

I agree about the console ports of the time period. Crap, crap, and crap. But once you've owned the original, the 3DO version is almost as bad. That overdone scaling in and out and the slightly delayed controller input killed it for me. And the muffled sound effects and voices are horrible.
I never knew until about a year ago that 3DO made a console. I LOVED the Army Men and Battle Tanx franchises, especially Battle Tanx: Global Assault. It's surprising to me that they made such a crappy system when I loved those games so much
I disagree with Corbie on this issue. Personally, I think he would've liked it more if he hadn't sold all his SNES stuff and just waited a year, like the rest of us, for it to go on clearance. I think the loading time was pretty fast and it does feel like a $700.00 system in 1994 money!
EXPERIENCE MORE.... Arcade-quality graphics, awesome sound, "turbo-charged" game play, exciting TurboChip games... It's the incredible Turbo Genesis 64 Entertainment SuperSystem Experience. There's more fun, more challenge, and more excitment ready for you today!
The 3DO actually had some great games for the time. Remember, this machine was released before the PlayStation and the Saturn during a time when the Megadrive and SNES were the most popular consoles.
EA were big supporters of the machine and provided it with some of its best titles (EA were great back then). You had the first 3D Fifa game on it for a start, which was eventually evolved into Fifa 96 on the PlayStation and Saturn. Road Rash was another quality title for it at the time, as was Need For Speed and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. There were also ports of great titles of the time such as Doom, Flashback (with great new soundtrack and cutscenes), Lemmings, Alone in the Dark, Samurai Shodown etc - there were actually a lot of decent titles for the machine.
It was never worth buying, though. Whilst it had some great games and could certainly impress at the time, it was too expensive and the games don't hold up as much to day. Not as exclusive games anyway - you can find most of the 3DO greats on other consoles now, usually as better versions. At the time, if you had one, you'd think you had the greatest machine in the world but in hindsight you'd probably wish you'd waiting a year or two more and just picked up a PlayStation.
I loved the 3DO. Wing Commander was one of my favourites. Also had great fun with Road Rash and Pebble Beach Golf. Space Hulk too, though it used to scare the hell out of me back then!
Edit: Just noticed someone mentioned Need for Speed, and the 3DO version is still my favourite. Great game.
