Right now, I'm playing Final Fantasy IV (the SNES FF II version), kind of celebrating my 20th anniversary of first playing it. As a part of it, I'm trying again to get what I call " a Final Fantasy completionist's worst nightmare": The Pink Tail. I've read the odds are in the thousand of getting one on the SNES version. I believe it!
I think the Pink Tail on that FF IV version is the hardest-to-get item in games, but I thought I'd ask everybody here what they think is the item in all of gaming that is most difficult/frustrating to acquire. Any items perennially out of reach to the point of ripping hair out (your own or someone else's ) for the rest of you?
In Final Fantasy XII, there was a weapon I thought would be a similar headache, as it also has poor odds of dropping: The Danjuro Dagger. Funny thing is, I got it to drop the first time I fought the rare enemy that drops it. Felt like I'd won a lottery, LOL.
I know several items in Team Fortress 2 that are mighty hard to come by.
Pfft, if you're talking about Headcase doohickies then I'll have you know there are about 400 of them. Plenty to go around for the millions of players.

If you think that's something, try getting one of the 52 still existing golden wrenches u_u

I will after you get an Uncle Sam.
... I feel like this is gibberish to everyone else.

Apparently completing Final Fantasy XII is a total nightmare. That last shield for Goofy in Kingdom Hearts 1 took forever to get...in fact, I'm not sure I ever got it, even after grinding for it for hours at a time.
These arnt hard items but really sweet unlockables in games: Fusion Suit in Metroid Prime, boulder in Excite Bots, Monster in Excite Truck, Galllom tank form is SSBB, Tamagotchi in chibi Robo, Mario Kart in Nintendogs, all gold items in MK7, the Nintendo systems in Wario world
Digitaloggery 3DS FC: Otaku1 WiiU: 013017970991 Nintendo of Japan niconico community is full of kawaii! Must finish my backlagg or at least get close this year W...
Cap, carve tail and pick up shines from a High Rank Rathalos and you have around a 20% rate, believe it or not. Low Rank plates, however are a pain in the butt; 3% per tail carve. Killed/Capped almost 50 in MHP3rd and still didn't get one.
For me, it's Goo King Sword from Breath of Fire III. Drop rate is less than 0.4% per kill, and Goo King flees unless you steal his Green Apple first. Then, he gets mad and wants it back and hits you with Ragnarok and Tornado.
Getting the NES games on the Gamecube AnimalCrossing.
All I had was DKJr Math >:[

Well, I also had DonkeyKong but my sis gave it away to Bill the duck >:[
But later on, we got an e-Reader, and got them all, I still have all the cards, and that useless eReader.
